How NOT to update your controller

Anybody else besides me make the bone-head mistake of not reading a few instructions for even a small task????

Got my new chat adapter today, No worries I've read how to do this, I thought. Just have to update the controllers. Simple!!!!

Get it set up, everything plugged in and it said, "problem". Alright, I thought, I'll try my second controller. So I first of course unplug the "problem" controller and press the xbox button. Nothing. Check batteries. Fine, still nothing. Went through FIVE
sets of batteries. Nothing. Then, I just happen to actually READ the instuctions and I notice the bottom first, where it says to REPLACE the batteries. I think that means I need to have the batteries out first.

Re did everything correctly and done in 2 minutes.

How do we update the controller? NO USB Cable comes with Xbox One.

There is more sites, the Titanfall controller update was part of February Xbox one update. An the Titanfall update is done by sync your controller with the Xbox, over air, no cable needed.

Do controller updates happen automatically? Wire your controller to the console and check for an update.

Ahhh...... and though we all laugh I feel a lot of the current console issues are derived from the above ........ NOT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!..........

I am yet to update my controller. Will jump on that tonight most likely.

 

Instructions? Pah! That's for wimps! I know what to do! LOL!

 

I use rechargeable batteries but all i did was plug in the USB cord to the X1 with the headset plugged in the controller and it was done in a min....you have to have new batteries for it to work?

 

You don't need new batteries but apparently it will not update with batteries in the controller. Don't know why but that's what I found.

I did mine with the official battery pack in but that connects through a contact chip thing as oppose to the usual battery terminals so that could be why.
