    If they can keep producing games and selling them new at $20, how much do they make off $60?

    i'm actually tired of the standard price structure. i think publishers developers should charge what they think is a fair price for their game. i'm tired of seeing good studios go under because their game cost to much to make a profit of the standard 60$
    price.

    and i'm also tired of seeing publishers devs rush games out unfinished because if they delay it any longer they wont make back their investment. and i'm tired of seeing sequel after sequel of the same game running on the same old game engine like call of
    duty because they want to make a profit under the current prices standard.

  3. A Simple Solution to the DRM/Used Game Situation

    The devs need teirs of games which reflect their level in price. If yhey make a AAA title like CoD with a $100m budget that games worth $60 if they make a smaller game with smaller budget that's a $40 game etc. I like what ubi did with fallout 3 blood dragon,
    use existing game and re-work it into a stand alone title and sell for $15 it didn't cost much to make because the bulk of the game is a re-hash. Problem is publishers like EA do this already with perenial games, using old mechanics and slapping on a coat
    of paint does not a new game make. See the fifa fiasco for nintendo wii.

    If publishers and developers (mostly the publisher though) would start making games that were actually worth $60, stopped selling on-disc DLC, and stopped making crap, overpriced DLC, maybe people would be more willing to spend the money on a new game. I
    don't buy used games, I like my games new, but I sure as hell don't drop $60 on a game that isn't worth it. I'll wait til the price drops and buy it new for $20-$30.

    Steam has these sales because the Devs/Pubs know that they are going to get a definate amount from that sale, (random number) 20% of a £20 title is still something for the developer/publisher to put back into their next or current projects whether it be
    funding DLC or keeping servers going. Instead of having to price so high that they can cover for the loss in used games. If a game is £60 and a dev gets £20 on a new sale that's good, but with used games they see nothing.

    with digital you can see games at a more reasonable price of 30-40 and the dev will still get some of that money from the sale.

    By always getting money from sale game prices can drop because they wont need to have a big price tag so devs/pubs are covered. also by cutting out the cost involved in Manufacturing boxes, printing manuals, and writing discs. the lower price does become
    a more believable reality.

    By doing this sure Game and Gamestop lose money which is a shame, but besides the fact you get minuscule amounts back from trade ins, because devs/pubs have more funds for games the games start to get better and the used game market again should not be needed.
