I probably consumed the most data during the time when I was playing nothing but Destiny LOL

I play A LOT less now since there is nothing for me to do in the game

I have unlimited and several of my friends have unlimited as well. My house has Vodafone NZ High Speed Unlimited broadband which does 100mb/s down and a solid stable 10mb/s upload. The upload speed makes it super convenient for me to upload and share HD
videos on my youtube channel. Roughly using 140GB/month. For Xbox 1, you need unlimited, given how horindously big game files sizes are on Xbox 1 like Forza 6, COD, etc, compared to how little game file sizes are on Xbox 360 compared to Xbox 1. And like that
day 1 15GB Update which Halo MCC had. I watch a lot of Youtube, Netflix, and play mostly on my Xbox 360 and sometimes Xbox 1. ISP's do charge if you go over your monthly cap, which is why having unlimited is handy.

I feel bad for Geek too. NZ is a small country compared to our neighbour Australia, and especially UK/US. I guess he lives in a rural town in the middle of no where. I live in a big city in NZ and we get quality ISP's here. Having unlimited means you don't
have to worry about going over a data cap amount limit. Maybe Australia and NZ have better quality of life than US or something. We have pretty good consumer protection laws over here. I've been watching Jurassic World, Rush (Australian TV series), and other
stuff online, quite a bit, playing minecraft multiplayer daily, and the data amount you use, can creep up on you. But with unlimited, no data caps, though ISP's may impose a Fair Usage policy thing which is something Vodafone (large ISP) does. On NZ$109 incl.
GST plan a month which includes unlimited high speed broadband (100mb/s down, stable 10mb/s upload speed), freeview TV and phone. Most people have a PC which has a Microsoft OS on it aka Windows. We know how often and regularly Microsoft and other stuff provide
Updates to their products. Updates do get regular and pretty annoying. And socializing does consume data too. I'm in parties everyday on Xbox 360 too.

 

Don't know how much I use in total but I just checked my main x1 and I average about 220gb a month with one month at 1.55TB, pretty sure that's the month I had a hd failure and had to re download my collection though.

 

my average usage a month across all my devices is about 5 Terabytes, but my average usage of just my xbox one is about 450GB a month.

it doesnt take much at all - actual data being fed is minimal - its streaming in HD that seems to mess people up who dont have unlimited..

Axioms - How are you using 5 terrabytes per month?!? i know many businesses who do less :/

 

well i stream all my content from the net im running 2 xbox ones and a 360 as well as 3 pc's a tablet and 4 phones

 

Anyway, once I get close to my cap of 500gb, I just log into the airports free Wifi

 

Just so you guys know, my family has been doing a LOT in the way of decreasing the amount of GBs we use (and yes, I know I'm my own worse enemy). We've started watching our movies and TV shows at lower resolutions (and together rather than separately), but
that doesn't work on the XB1, since most of the apps seem to have an auto-HD setting. This means we have to watch it using the smart TV apps (which we hate - there's no Kinect voice functions) or the PC, where it's all on a rather small monitor. Despite all
of this, we STILL regularly go over the limit because of how much my family actually watches (which is about 3-4 1 hour shows every day, and that's not including the new games I download). At roughly 3-4GB per 1-hour episode, go ahead and do the math.

Our current solution, is to watch most of our shows on live local TV, which doesn't use our network at all. Unfortunately, our schedules also prevent this from working, as we like to watch our shows together as a family. Add to that the fact that many of
our shows on 1 network air at the same time as other favorite shows on another network.

What we're going to try next is a DVR. We've already ordered 1 (subscription free), along with a 4GB external HDD for it, and are just waiting for it to arrive. This will allow us to record the live on-air TV shows we like to watch, even if multiple shows
air at the same time, so we can watch them later at our leisure, and in full HD (or at least as high as the local channels allow anyways, which is generally good enough at 1080i).

 

I use about 150GB to 300GB A month glad I don't have A cap.

 

Okay, the DVR came in, my brother and I set it up, and it is absolutely fantastic! We also picked up a 4TB external HDD to store the shows, so we won't really have to worry about space being an issue. We've already programmed it to record all of our shows
for the next 2 weeks, and tested it this evening with the Toy Story Christmas Special (which had Battlesaurs in it, which was awesome) as well as Flash and iZombie, which sadly were reruns due to the holidays and all (the good news is we can set it to not
record reruns).

In case you're curious, the DVR we got was a ChannelMaster+
