How loud is your power brick?

So I recently got another X1 last week (used) for the 2015 exclusive line-up, however I can never remember the power brick when I had my original X1 being this loud. The only difference is it's now in a bedroom rather than the living room, so when I'm powering
down the console to go sleep I can constantly hear the power brick fan/buzzing/humming noise from it.

It's about slightly louder than this: and when there room is silent it is very noticeable.
I understand switching to energy saving mode solves this problem but I want to keep the X1 in instant on mode. Is this normal for the power brick?

XBOX 360 power supply is making a grinding noise.

My power supply is making a loud, annoying grinding noise. Why is it doing this and how do I fix it?

 

Is the fan on new Xbox One consoles much more noisy than old consoles?

If your Console is loud make the volume oft TV louder ^^ no just a joke..

If you expirience Problems or loud console I suggest you guys to do a Hard Reboot (Full Power Cycle)

for that: 1.Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will power down. Wait until power supply light turns orange (after 30seconds), Unplug from electricity for 60 seconds, TRY
AGAIN.

this will resolve the most Problems...

 

Yep...the power brick is beyond loud...I've seen the abuse...WE should try n kill it.....

 

Mine is dead silent...The whole system is for that matter.

The system itself is silent and I can't hear the powerbrick when I'm actually playing on the X1. It's just when I power the system down onto instant on mode that I can hear it from across the room.

 

Yeah, that's a bit dodgy tbh. Maybe try getting a vacuum on the vents of the brick, could be dust etc interfering with the internals.

 

It's soooo loud, I have to put pillows on top of it and stand 100m away, and even then, I can still hear it. Yes the neighbours and everyone on my street and the city council I got complaints from them. It sounds like a propeller chainsaw and lawnmower.


Just kidding, I play in my bedroom and I didn't even know it made any noise. Unless you buy a decibel testing thingy which measures how much noise devices make. It makes less noise than when my HP Pavilion dv6 is idling.

 

Unless you are a dog which has better hearing than humans, fact, or a dodgy Xbox 1, any noise should be so quiet that it doesn't bother you or you don't notice it. My bedroom and when I move it into the lounge, has been quiet several times, and still, I
haven't picked up anything. And I have good hearing. Maybe your ears are overly sensitive or you use it within a 1m space.

 

Well the Xbox 360 Slim console and Xbox 1 console may be "whisper quiet", it still is going to produce noise, but it shouldn't be the amount where it should really bother anyone. There is a difference between "quiet" and "silent". Microsoft didn't campaign
that the Xbox 1 would be "silent". I hope you still get to enjoy your Xbox experience, but if you see heavy dust build up, give it a wipe make sure nothing is obstructing the ventilation holes, maybe that'll do the trick.

If yours is loud I would be a bit concerned, as it is the power source. I would call support ASAP!

 

If you have a power brick that makes any noise what so ever, you need a new power brick.
IMO.

 

Sounds like your power brick needs to see a doctor. Contact Xbox Support for an appointment An Xbox 360 slim console and Xbox 1 console are suppose to be whisper quiet meaning it shouldn't create noise which bothers you (doesn't mean it will be silent).

Is sounds like the power brick of your Xbox One is defective because I've never heard any noise come out from my Xbox 360 power brick and Xbox One power brick.

Your console is still under the store warranty, just go back and swap it out for another one
