I'm starting to have stick drift issues in left analog but they're minor, but they're there nonetheless and it has been disruptive to some games. Trying to blow down into the analog housing buys me time and it hasn't utterly ruined my gaming, so I'm not
pressed to mail it in if its under warranty at this moment. If I have the time I'd like to wait so I don't miss on Halo 5 and Tomb Raider. I'm curious how long the warranty is good for so if I need to I can send it in for repair/replacement while the offer
    is still good.

Though, I hear that the Foxconn design of analog housing in the controller for both Xbox One and PS4 are the same and that Foxconn skimped on durable housing and that is responsible for the stick drifting issues. By comparison against the design of the component
used on the Xbox 360 controller, the Xbox 360 analog housing was much sturdier. By experience, my Xbox 360 controllers were very well designed. Only one bit the dust because of that awful arm wrestling mini-game in GTA IV: Lost & Damned DLC that required really
fast waggling of the analog and after two rounds of that I had drift in one of my controllers so I avoided any similar activity from then on. Even being extra careful to baby my Xbox One controller I still got analog drift.

Why I brought that up is that I'm worried if the manufacturing defect that causes the stick drift hasn't been addressed then how will I know if I send it in under warranty or repair, will it actually be repaired to be durable or to original specification,
or will it just be replaced and I'll have another dying controller in less than a year? Or if it is replaced will it be with one where the manufacturing defect has been addressed?

In case you don't know, the manufacturing defect is explained very well in this video I'll provide below (please excuse the robot voice, I didn't make it). Notice how they compare the analog design of the Xbox 360 controller and how it is superior to that
used in the Xbox One controller. if Microsoft has yet to get it addressed then please let this be your notice if you guys haven't begun to address it yet. (for Heaven's sake it's been two years almost)...

Xbox One Controller Left Button Broke

The warranty period is for manufacturing defects not physical damage and it is 90 days. The only real option that you have is to replace the controller. Good Luck!

  3. three flashing red lights

That person was incorrect. Microsoft extended the warranty on the original model Xbox 360 console to a period of three years for three red light defects exclusively because of manufacturing defects.

The last of those models produced--the Elite and the Arcade--discontinued manufacturing no later than July 19th, 2010. Your warranty for three red-light defects therefore could not have been in effect for any longer than July 19th, 2013.

For further information on warranties please consult here: Xbox 360 warranties

Thank you and have a nice day.

I didn't post a clip showing how to dismantle controller, it showed a dismantled one to show the defected in the xbox one controller and it's completely contextually to my inquiry

and that doesn't even begin to answer my question anyways

and please keep thread unlocked in case I have any follow up questions

  5. I'm posting the video again, because it DOES NOT show how to dismantle controller (and I seriously have to question your commitment to addressing my issue if you gloss over my question and the video so carelessly), the controller was already dismantled by
the video creator to illustrate a flaw in its design specifically with the analog housing, this video is from early 2014 BTW so some time has passed since. Given that it has been a year and a half since the issue has been discovered and made public, I wonder
if anything has been done to address it. I posted it because I have a technical issue and I need a solution, I need to know whether:

    (a) getting another controller will just have the same design flaw as that shown in the video, or

    (b) if a new controller will have addressed this design flaw specifically, or

    (c) that if I send it in for repair, will MS simply replace it with a controller with the same design flaw, or

    (d) will they repair it to original specifications (again, flawed), or

    (e) will they repair it beyond original specifications by making it more durable in the area it was weak so that the problem won't occur again so easily, or

    (f) if not any of the above, what?

Again, getting answers to this will help me make a next course of action, be it to send it in for repair, get it replaced, or buy a third party controller that doesn't have these issues.

Again, here is the video which DOES NOT show how to dismantle the controller, it shows an issue with the Xbox One analog housing design that's responsible for early controller demise, again I want to know if this has been addressed specifically, and I'd
like to know specifically what'll happen if/when I send my Xbox One controller in for repair...

    [Mod Removed]

Also, again, I got it with my console 10 months ago, is it under warranty still?

**Leave thread unlocked in case I have follow up questions to the official response.**

Please note, the video DOES show the controller already disassembled, which is something Microsoft discourages.

In regards to your question: you can visit a page through xbox.com where you will be able to send your controllers in for repair. Chances are, you'll have to pay shipping. People that have gone through this have told me they got a great working controller
in return, sometimes even a limited edition controller, I would not expect your exact controller in return. As far as purchasing a new controller, quality, although I don't have access to actual specs, words is that the newer controllers (specifically any
limited such as new Lunar White limited) have the best build quality yet. I would recommend one of them.
