For me personally it’s been great. No complaints about the hardware. I’m a little annoyed that they’ve stopped making the connector for the Kinect. I would still like to use it.

I definitely think they need to improve in the software side of things. Sony is killing it. Now that GoW is out I’m getting a Pro so there’s no issue for me, but some people can only afford one console. It feels like MS is severely lacking here. I’m really
looking forward to E3 to see what’s in store.

Still, my overall experience is great and I prefer the Xbox ecosystem.

It's a bit sad to see them abandon Kinect ALL OF A SUDDEN. But I can live without it now. Kinect is, or was.... great.

As for the software side of things for everything on Xbox One, it's been abysmal, totally. It's the slowest piece of software I've ever seen on any hardware product. It isn't user friendly, it's full of junk, lacks structure and simplicity compared with
Xbox 360's current UI, the activity feed section doesn't update in real time, and I have good internet (Vodafone high speed). Profile pictures not loading first time, the activity feed is cluttered and lacks organization and structure and just is a spammers
paradise. Recent players list isn't shown in real time and is not listed in chronological order of order of most recent players, starting from the last one you played with. Rather, they structure it into game groups like Minecraft recent players, Halo recent
players, etc. Xbox 360's Recent Players List is structured in chronological order starting off with the latest recent player from the top. Even though things have improved from the disaster that Xbox One launched with, which is why Xbox One is doing so poorly
in sales due to the rough start off Xbox One had at launch, there's still things they need to clean up. They are the world's biggest software company. And I expect more than this.

Despite the bugs and criticism about the software, which warrants them having to update the thing every month, it still is usable. Xbox 360's UI is really good. They've hardly had to update it over the past few years. Why? cause it simply does a better job
at user friendliness, than Xbox One which is trying to hard to be Windows 10 rather than simply an OS which would be better suited for an Xbox console. There's nothing left that needs cleaning up with, on the Xbox 360. That's why they don't have to update
it. But with Xbox One, their half baked OS needs cleaning up every month.

My experience has been pretty terrible in all honesty.

I pre-ordered a Day One console. The console itself suffered from coil whine. The PSU had a ticking fan. The controller had a broken D-pad and shoulder button out of the box. The retailer was sold out and could only offer a refund, so I contacted MS support.
After chatting with 2 different people, one of which was a supervisor, they agreed to replace the entire package. Great. However, they sent me just a console on its own, not the entire package.

They then said that I would have to pay to send my faulty products to Prague. I live in the UK. The shipping was quite expensive, but I wouldn't have paid out of principle anyway. At this point I got stuck in a deadlock, because MS would only agree to replace
my faulty goods if I paid to send them to Prague, then I would have to wait 2 weeks or more to be sent replacements. I spoke to loads of different people in Xbox support, but they all gave me the same answer.

At this point I emailed Phil Spencer. To my surprise, he replied and said that he'd get someone who works for Xbox in the UK to contact me. At that point I had MS staff falling over themselves to help me. Sadly, I had to be sent SIX replacement PSUs before
I got one with a fan that didn't tick, and THREE replacement Xbox Ones before I got one without coil whine. Also, when I did one of the advanced replacements, I had to let MS reserve £430 on my debit card. That was fine, but even though I returned the faulty
Xbox and the tracking showed that MS had received it, they later claimed that they hadn't received it and they took £430 from my bank account. Again, I had to contact a manager at Xbox to get this resolved.

I have had multiple controllers fail on me, including SIX Elite controllers. I've been gaming since the 1970s and have only ever had one controller fail on me before - an Xbox 360 controller that had had a ton of use.

I bought one of my Elite controllers from the Microsoft Store. When it arrived, the cross-shaped D-pad wouldn't fit on the controller, like the metal hadn't been hollowed out properly to allow it to fit on. I contacted the MS Store who said I would need
to contact Xbox Support. I contacted Xbox Support who told me I'd have to contact the MS Store. Eventually when I got through to someone who could help, they told me that I'd have to BUY a replacement D-pad, and the price was over £10. I offered to send the
faulty D-pad in first, then wait for them to test it and send me a replacement, but they refused. They would only sell me a D-pad. Once again, I was forced to use my contact in Xbox management to intervene, which I really don't like doing cos I don't want
to bother them with trivial stuff like this, but it was the only way to get a resolution. Once I contacted them, I was sent a bag of replacement Elite controller parts via courier that arrived the very next day.

I bought a Chatpad when they first came out, but it had horrible static issues when the headphone jack was tapped/knocked. The static was super loud and could be heard by everyone in the party. I had the Chatpad replaced but the replacement had the same
issue. I returned it for a refund and bought one a few months later thinking that maybe there was a bad batch of them. I had the same issue. I then got sent one by Microsoft as a gift for helping them out with something - even that one had the same issue.
I've seen a lot of negative reviews about the product for the exact same reason.

I pre-ordered an Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition and got it on release day. I was very happy with it, but a few weeks ago it stopped outputting video. I tried everything - replacement HDMI cable, using a different port on the TV, using a different TV,
booting the console up using the key combo that resets the video settings - nothing worked. I ended up getting a refund from the retailer and buying a regular One X from a local supermarket.

Finally, when I initially got my Scorpio I also bought a Kinect adapter. It didn't work properly and I had to wobble the cable around in the back of the console to get Kinect to come on. I found other people with the same issue online, but no solution. At
this point, the adapter had sold out everywhere and I was unable to get a replacement. I ended up finding a solution - if you buy a USB extension cable, plug the adapter into that, then plug the extension cable into the console, it works fine. No dodgy connection.
I also posted the solution online and others tried it and found it worked for them too.

So yeah, I've had a multitude of hardware issues that have been compounded by terrible customer service. I've also had a ton of software issues with the Xbox One dashboard - issues that I'm still trying to get resolved today. To give MS credit, they have
tried to help with the software issues, even enrolling my gamertag into a program that gives me extra options when I use the "report a problem" tool, so I could run network traces and stuff, but sadly, despite trying to give them as much info as I can, some
    of my issues still persist.

If I could turn back the clock I would have spent my money elsewhere, but I went all digital this gen so I'm kinda locked in. If I got rid of my Xbox, I'd lose an absolute fortune in money spent on games that would then become useless.

I maze well give an idea of what my "Xbox" experience has been like too. So you're interested in hear what you, or shall I say I, have to say? Lets begin. Pull up a chair as this is gonna take a while to read, for some.

Starting from mid to late 2010, I first joined Xbox with an Xbox 360 slim console which is still working fine, surprise. As soon as Minecraft came out, I found I found it easy to maintain a full friends list (limit on 360 is 100). However to this day, I
prefer Xbox 360's current UI which is far more better than Xbox One's. I also played Happy Wars, Final Fantasy XIII, Halo Reach, Halo 4. I chose Xbox 360 cause PS3 doesn't have PARTY CHAT, picture messaging and probably voice messaging too. And the way they
incorporated avatars made Xbox 360 a great social media device to mix with and play with others worldwide.

I then went to the midnight launch of Xbox One in November 2013 in NZ since 26 EB Games stores in NZ were open for the event. At the time, you could only buy the console with Kinect. I haven't tried Xbox 360 Kinect so decided to give it a go. Voice commands
was a Kinect exclusive feature until people complained about it and then they rolled out an update which now accepts voice commands through you mic.

Xbox One did get off to a rough start:

    - no voice messaging

    - no picture messaging (Xbox 360 XBL)

    - no Dolby support, only Uncompressed Stereo setting option

    - no external HDD support

    - couldn't change the black dash background

    - super slow and buggy UI

    - They had to make 2 policy reversals. Now policy reversals are a serious thing and it is very hard for people to get a large global corporate to make such a thing. Policies reversed were (1) mandatory 24 hour online checks or your console wouldn't function
    (2) mandatory Kinect connection required otherwise your console wouldn't function. However there were millions of people against these policies so they were forced to make this move or face public execution so to speak.

    - People complained about the size of the console in 2013, it looked like a bulky desktop PC, or..... a VCR, a thing your parents would have used.

    - DDR3 is a poor choice for gaming since it has significantly weaker lower bandwidth than GDDR5. This was corrected when the Xbox One X console hit the shelves. They went with DDR3 option PRIMARILY because they wanted Xbox One to be an 'all in one multimedia
device', and since DDR3 has *marginally* less latency than GDDR5. Also on Xbox one S and original, only 5GB of the 8GB DDR3 is available to gaming. That's not enough memory for all 1080p games, and certainly can't do 4k gaming with that limitation of memory.
I have a high end desktop PC and when I play Cities Skylines, Planet Coaster, and The Sims 4 on 1080p maxed settings, I'm using 5-7GB of my 16GBRAM easy. Xbox One X can do a better job and at least some 4k gaming, with 12GB GDDR5 326GB/S bandwidth which equates
to a medium to high end GPU power or an AMD R9 390 or GTX 1060 roughly.

    - Xbox One did get off to a rough start, which explains why there is less kids on Xbox One than there was on Xbox 360; and could explain the sales too. But Xbox One in my experience has improved quite a lot since launch. But there's still some areas they
    can work on.

About 2 years ago, they updated the kernel to a more Windows 10 approach UI. This improved UI speed times by a bit. But the Activity Feed takes up a WHOLE dashboard section now, and is filled with ununiformed different sized squares with activity feeds from
friends and friends of friends. A UI which doesn't enable you to record video clips longer than 5 minutes. A broadcasting system which is cheap. And video sharing which isn't as good as what PVR manufacturers Hauppauge and Elgato can do, and a sharing system
which isn't defaulted to YouTube. But to Mix or Twitch which I don't want to use. They took away Xbox One's ability to multitask, by taking away the Snap feature (play a game on a main window and have YOUTUBE or NETFLIX or messages or friends, in a smaller
window on the same screen). Xbox 1's UI doesn't show the peoples avatars in your XBL Party, a neat little feature from Xbox 360.

However one good thing about Xbox One is (1) you can read messages from older than 30 days old (2) you can have more than 100 friends (I think the limit is 1000+).

Another disadvantage of Xbox One's Friends List system is this Follower system. Unlike Xbox 360, when someone adds you on Xbox One, the system does not ask permission (Accept/Decline) like what Xbox 360's system does. So unless you know where to check, you
could have your normal amount of friends + 50 randoms stalking you. And plus I feel there isn't good enough differentiation between your Friends List and your Followers List, they should be on two separate proper lists.

As for multiplayer experience, it hasn't been too great (but it's been um, ok at times). Far too many split screeners in Minecraft Xbox One, and far too many baby accounts with 80-700 Gamerscore, multiple accounts since they introduced this Home system where
only one account on a console has to have a Gold subscription. In ways I think it's better with Xbox 360's system where every user had to have a Gold subscription to play multiplayer and party chat. That provides less opportunity for someone to abuse the system
by creating multiple accounts and having the same privileges as a Gold account. Granted they had in mind a family friendly eco system thingy which is probably a reason why they introduced Xbox One Home program where only one user was required to have Gold.

Overall I give my Xbox One experience a 7/10 - that's still a pass. Overall I give Xbox 360 a 9.5/10. Overall I give Xbox a 9/10. Minecraft Xbox One servers are worse than Minecraft Xbox 360 servers, in my experience. With Minecraft Xbox One servers frequently
saying lost connection, no available games (when there were), try creating a game... (e.g. mini games). Minecraft came out first on Xbox 360 in 2012 and then PS3 late 2013 lol. They then acquired Minecraft (Even the Xbox boss plays it) and Skype (which I barely
use). Since Skype is the only app for console video chat using Kinect. However if you have Gold, you don't need to pay to use any Skype services e.g. video chat while using that service on your Xbox One console since your Gold subscription covers it, and since
video chat on 360 was free, then it should be the same on XB1.

Consoles offer simplicity. No viruses. No keyboard and mouse, just a good controller. No game that says in recommended/minimum system requirements.... I want this computer to play this game.... I want that computer to play that game.... I gave up on PC gaming
early 2010 since Sims 3 crashed on my capable laptop. But picked up PC gaming 3 years ago since Sims 4 took forever to get onto console.... and since being able to get my first custom desktop high end PC. I like this company as they appear to be a good company,
they have full support (unlike facebook which pretty much has zitch support, I only got it cause one friend bugged me into getting it so don't share much on it anyways), and they acknowledge your legal rights in terms of privacy and consumer rights, in their
terms of service "if you acquired the contract outside the US, your countries laws govern the interpretation of this contract", which is why they extend the US warranty of an elite controller from 90 days, to 12 months in Australia/NZ/UK. Also, their 12months
Gold subscription is $10 cheaper than PS+ 12 month subscription. I also received a friend request from an Xbox forum moderator too who got on well with the younger contributors where one of us drew a unicorn using keyboard characters on one of the minecraft
forum sections, as well as met a british girl on Xbox 360 who used to participate on here. As for Minecraft circa 2018, I hardly play the game now. And since there is a lack of fun people from Xbox 360 I met on Xbox One, I don't really play Minecraft much
(due to the Xbox One launch feedback, most of them are not on Xbox One). I still have some good friends on Xbox though.

Another plus to Xbox is we can post pictures on here now....

Have a nice/good day, evening, or night everyone How has your XBOX experience been so far? :)

How has your XBOX experience been so far?

O and I have more I want to add...

In 2012 I met a this British girl in Minecraft. She was a bit of a trash talker though and am thankful in someway she deleted me even though it was her who sent me a friend request. Back in 2012 most kids thought I was from the UK thinking I have a British
accent. It seems it was a habit back then that US people thought Australian/NZ people had British accents. I guess I did have some minor sort of such accent, I do have some Irish in me.

When Xbox One launched, most people I met on Xbox 360 (age around 10-30) didn't like Windows 8 style UI Xbox One launched with. It was super slow and too boxy. A friend from last year who is a PS player said Xbox One's UI is too cluttered, especially the
Activity section, and I have to agree with him on that.

Xbox is a good system and may remain in the market for years to come.

Things I'd like to see improve is the software, note, learn from what helped make Xbox 360 a success, as it was the most successful 7th gen console to start off with for a while from that generation. And the other is Xbox One's servers reliability with multiplayer.
As well as have options like not allow split screeners in certain lobbies. Though it's a different system, and not easy to maintain servers, I found it way easier to get into and stay in, multiplayer matches on Xbox 360. Instead of running into this screen:

  10. I have the launch version, now 18 months old. And a 360.

All system updates are going in the right direction - more customization.

I look forward to grouping of games, as I saw on YT channel this is to come eventually.

How about any button on controller as shortcut to any part in system?

What is seriously flawed is store.

Deals with Gold and Games specials are most of the time mixed up, and hardly anything listed in deals with gold, and just about everything in specials is also "with Gold" thingy.

And what about 360 updates - yeah it's xbox too - so at least Internet Explorer works towards Microsofts own pages - really weird that it doesn't.

Search in store is bricked, in that you always get all media - never just games etc. Been like that for two years now.

And account is bricked too, some info options just ends in error.

And forum is bricked as well compared to any forum on internet and old xbox forums.

Over all the new Game Pass is the best thing since Xbox original came out. Every other thing microsoft touches is bad. It is like hell came to earth and not one person cared. Your the facebook of the pc and gaming universe. Oh. Your E.T. the game version

I would like to see a system that does not require an internet connection, or an account so whatever I buy remains in my phisical possession and I can access my ''games console'' to play games without online errors or the system saying ''who are you'' and
    ''try again later''

I really just want an offline gaming console that only connects some controllers and a wire to my electricity and tv.

Online is not the best way to game. I still go to NAMCO arcade centres where there is a better atmosphere of friendly competition between gamers who can behave civilized or face a lifetime ban.

The online gaming idea seemed very good and well thought out on paper but the whole online thing has reached a point where bad experiences out-weigh the good.

I had but 1 input for this generation of gamming which was the ability to expand games... previous gens have this feature but was never used, but this gen has used the idea as a cash grab.

The system wouldn't need support if users could keep their games etc without being connected to the service or logged into a account.

So ''forever'' is the answer to your question because I would never upgrade just to migrate my games because the console I would have played them on says error you need to be connected to xbl to access you're property but we no longer provide this service
for this console so can you please buy a new console every 5 years or loose everything you bought because you're games are in our possesion on our servers and this is the best gaming decision we ever made... thanks for shopping xbox.
