    I'm curious. What is it about the gameplay that people dont like when they say they want it to play like "previous" ones.

    Personally, I'd describe it as a mixture of mw2 and bo1.

  3. Not sure, either tired old guy..IMO, mechanically speaking Ghosts plays better than ever (sans the occasional unresponsive knife, i.e swinging and missing knifing a satcom, etc.). Personally, MY gripe, from a gameplay standpoint, would be that the NUMEROUS
    perk setup combinations make for a convoluted and perceived unlevel playing field. Sort of to the point where it's the right perk setup that dictates the chances of success primarily, followed by the style of play, and lastly the actual skill of the player.
    I think people miss the days of COD4, where it was the opposite: Actual skill of player, style of play, and THEN perk setup.

    Greek, you nailed it by saying "Actual skill of player, style of play, and THEN perk setup." I have said this many times before on the forums, The older games had a certain feel to them. They were IMO very enjoyable to play because you could run and gun,
    sit back and camp or do both. The setups were straight forward and you could find a lot of places to stop and think about your next move without getting shot within 10 seconds. Ghosts is a rushers dream, that's fine if that is what your good at. I am not a
    rusher so I struggle with the tempo of the game. COD4/WAW to me are the gold standard for the series. The newer games are not bad, there are several things I like about them, they are not anywhere near as good as COD4/WAW. Then we have the spawns on the new
    game.......................never mind, I think that has been discussed Ad nauseam. What I can say is I will rent the next one then decided if I will buy it.

  5. I really liked it until 1 of my achievements didn't unlock now that I know I can't 100% it i can't find myself to play it much less Xbox itself

    For me it's the map designs (the maps are/feel too big/complex for such small teams) and how they managed to make the spawns even worse than some of the spawns in BO2 were. I have literally spawned right in enemy LOS quite a few times during the few hours
    I played. How is that even possible with these maps? We're not talking about Nuketown/Hijacked/Rust/Shipment level shoeboxes! That plus the reduced health while still relying on host's connection with 2000 kilometers seperating me from that player and it's
    a pure nightmare. I don't know, I just don't get the CoD vibe from the game in general. It's not that I'm tired of CoD, though, as I can still easily play hours and hours of the previous ones.

    I'll agree perks are a strong factor, maybe even stronger than desireable. But the thing with that is people want something different with each release. I too liked the simpler setups from early releases, and WaW was probably my favorite. Problem with
    that is that you just cant keep it simple without it being the same basic thing over and over, year after year.



    Two of the biggest complaints I hear people use( aside from spawns) are 1 - cod is always the same thing over and over .... and 2- its not cod4 over and over. You really cant have both completetly, but I think ghosts does a pretty good at keeping with the
    feel of earlier gameplay but with variety through loadouts..





    The next 2 complaints I hear are A-it encourages camping .... and B - that it caters to rushers. that contaradiction in itself is the key to a good game. It needs opposing playstyles to keep it interesting.



    Personally ..... I think the game allows for any tactic, but doesnt particularly cater to any. You CAN camp .......... and from someone who is basically a camper at heart, the maps are awesome for it. But you can only camp so much without someone coming
    along and running you out of your spot. You can rush .... but you just cant rush around all willy nilly without getting picked off by one of those campers. This is where I think the game succeeds ..... you can play any tactic, but you cant consistently do
    well at any of them unless you do it well.

    ^Well said...With this plethora of perks, perhaps equal love could be shown toward the Hardcore Playlist, expand it a little bit. IMO, simply add HC Barebones for all HC game modes. No perks, no kill streaks. Just attachments and lethals perhaps. I think
    others would agree that this would truly bring back the competitive nature of the game where ppl could legitimately boast about K/D, win/loss, etc.

  9. ^gun game is a pretty good game for those who dont like all the perks and streaks ..... but I wouldnt count on anything hc. I've pretty much given up on hc myself even though it was always my preferred mode. Each release I think the hc players get shafted
    a little more.

  11. They claim its just a numbers thing ..... not enough players in hc to deserve the added space. But imo its a catch 22 situation. They dont have the numbers to justify adding more choices in the hc playlist ..... but there arent enough choices in the hc
    playlist to make people want to play it.

    Thats the reason I dont play it anyhow. I like to jump around from one game mode to another, but I dont like switching back and forth between core and hc ....... so I just stick to core everything now where I have more options..

    Perks play a major role in having success in all cods. The right strategy and spawn knowledge also are part of the success recipe IMO. I am a rusher at heart but the style of rushing for ghost consist of map knowledge, spawn points and staying on the edges.
    The right k/s helps add to dominating the competition but does not mean you or your team will win.

    Cod ghost and its low health was difficult to adjust to in the beginning, but over time you will adjust your gameplay to it. Knowing when to get into a fire fight is a must. Having the correct weapon also helps you win an engagement especially when the
    distance between yourself and the enemy is a factor.

    .

    Every cod has an adjustment phase and changing or molding your play style to every new cod is a major factor. If every game was the same then we would not be playing cod period.

    COD 2 HALO: Some arguable assertions there (ex: "spawn knowledge" is somewhat of an oxymoron in Ghosts, as it's pretty much out the window after about a minute into every match). Anyway, for all intents and purposes, you present some valid points overall,
    especially your closing sentence, which I strongly agree with. However, COD imo has now reached a crossroads. Does it remain and continue down fantasy land with superhuman perks and what have you? Or does it go back to basics, where it originated based
    on real theater and conflicts (COD2) or at the very least revert to semi-real theater combat from MW1, which was loosely based on US/UK involvement in Middle East. This idea in and of itself may feel "old" or "been there done that" to COD fans...but then,
    what changes or added perks/kill streaks do we keep ADDING before it spirals entirely out of control, and is no longer even recognized as a Call of Duty?

  14. Aside from perks and kill streaks, do you recall what the ONE biggest change in game play was when IW brought us MW1?? The SPRINT feature! No longer did you need to whip out your secondary handgun in order to run. That small change was HUGE for the series
    because it essentially gave rise to the fast paced run n gunner. It's the little things sometimes that matter. Anyhow, as we know, we then went from little perk increases, to MAJOR add-ons and kill streaks. Forget about game changers, they added game BREAKERS.
    Folks, this is a house of cards now, and I think the next rendition of the series will make or break it for good. Fortunately, I believe Treyarch shed itself from the "let's copy IW and re-skin it" development style, and has grown into the big boy shoes.
    So I have faith.

    First of all, I've never seen anything that I'd consider gamebreaking, but as far as killstreaks and such go, I'd say ghosts is milder than the last few.

    But the part about treyarch outgrowing copying iw ..... imo treyarch always had a totally different style than iw ..... up until bo2 that is. I think with bo2 treyarch tried to out-iw iw. .... and that was a mistake
