How does Copying (not moving) games to en external Hard drive work?

HI I am after some clarity about how copying a game from internal to external Hard drive works? I watched a Youtube video of someone doing this and they ended up with 2 copies shown on screen, one on the internal still and one on the external. Whilst this
is what I would expect of a "copy" feature, am wondering how the Xbox deals with this in terms of running the games and the saved games associated with it? Do you have a choice of which one to run? do you have to be careful choosing whihc one you run?

This is leading up to a question I posted on general forums about backing up saved games (to prevent accidental overwriting), so was wonding if this "copy to external" might help in that respect. However, by the same token, I don't want to confuse the less
techy people in my household by having 2 games with the same name and them choosing my "backed up" one by mistake

2TB Seagate External Hard Drive Will Not Download Certain Games

EDIT:

- Tried reformatting drive after failed download.

- Tried changing attached external hard drive to different USB ports that can be installed on Xbox.

When moving or copying the base game to external hard drive, download usually stops around 0.7% to 0.9%

 

Moving files to a new External Hard Drive, and I keep getting "Installation Stopped!" very frustrating

Are you moving the game off of your Xbox onto the external hard drive, or are you installing directly onto the hard drive? If you are moving, I would suggest Uninstalling
and Reinstalling the game. When downloading the game back, have it download directly to your external hard drive rather than the Xbox One.

Once you copy from internal to external, the internal one will disappear after the process is done. So you are basically just moving it from one to the other. After you move all your games to the external drive. There will be a tab above your games that
lets you choose internal/external "source". If you choose internal it will show empty if you have moved all your games to the external.

 

ah, Ok, thanks for that, makes sense, though cosmetically why there is a "Move" and a "copy" option is a bit misleading

 

yeah... not really copying... but moving instead.
