    How does backwards compatibility work on the Xbox Series S?


    I've got a lot of older 360 games and since the S doesn't have a drive, how do I get those games over to the S? I want to upgrade the 360 in my basement, but the kids are adamant that they be able to play a lot of the 360 games we have. For games purchased through my Xbox account on my Xbox One X, I know they can just be downloaded, but I certainly don't want to pay for games I've already purchased.

    Only if the game allows, there is a game that does not have the backward-compatible version and it is only possible to install the version for Xbox Series S/X. If the game allows, you should see 2 game icons in your library, a backward-compatible version and one for the Xbox Series S/X.

    Xbox backwards compatibility is currently paused for the moment due to the focus of the Xbox Series S & X release. So it may be some time for the game to become backwards compatible if it ever does.

    Yes, the old version of the game is backwards compatible, it will work on Xbox Series X/S consoles.

    Hi,

    I'm not sure where you got the 'every game will be 120 fps on Series S' from. The Series S will be capable of 120 fps, but that may not be possible on every game.

    As for Xbox One games at higher frame rates, that's possible, but it will only be on certain games. Plus, such features have to be patched in either by the developer or via the BC team. Xbox One games won't automatically run at higher frame rates on Series
    X or S.
