How do You Remove Real Name on Dashboard Log-in?

I've noticed recently that my real name pulls up on the dashboard - when it prompts me to log in, I now have to scroll to the right to select my name because it starts with an M. Before, I'd just conveniently hit the A button as my GT starts with an A. As
a result, it was the first name listed; now it's the fourth.

I've searched for an answer. I don't want to change my GT, which is what most people post. I also don't want to edit how my real name displays to friends or public, which is what the others state. I just want to remove it from my dashboard so that
it was like it was before recently - just display my GT so that it's first.

If there's a way to switch these two or another way to "promote" my account to be the fist, please advise. Otherwise I just need an answer to the above.

Is their any way to stop my real name from appearing on the dashboard?

Unluckily that enforcement is permanent.

 

Hi there, I'm not entirely sure what you mean because I haven't seen anything like that on my dashboard, but I do choose not to display my real name so the only time it flash my 'real name' up is when my profile automatically signs in. Generally you would
go to the following link to change real name settings:

There is also the chance this is a preview only thing, I would suggest posting this in the preview support forums as well to see if this was a recent change or something.

 

I'll post there as well. Thanks, DigitalAssassin. No, this doesn't have anything to do with WHAT name is displayed, so the account.live.com fix won't resolve this. It's that my real name is displayed at ALL.

To your point, I'm referring to when I first log in. You have yours set to auto log in; mine is manual. But the end result is the same - my real name is on that GT avatar window. It hasn't always - in fact, it wasn't until the last few weeks. My boys' GTs
still have just their GT - theirs does NOT display their real name.

This is a minor issue, but I'd like to remove my name completely so that my GT shows first! )

The original poster speaks of her housemate having his real name displayed along side the gamertag when 'selecting profile' but they do not. Unfortunately they haven't posted back, but they did 'solve' the thread which means going to:
http://account.live.com/ must have helped in some way.

Atticuss I was assured by the preview official staff that it cannot be seen by anyone this was when allowing your friends to see your real name was introduced, I haven't had any problems at all.

 

Yeah, unfortunately that's not what I'm talking about. I clicked on the account.live.com link and looked at everything possible - no dice. I also went to Xbox Live login and checked there, too. No luck. Those all point to literally changing my name - that's
not the issue. I don't care that it "knows" my name; I care that it alphabetically sorts my log-in profile by my real name (M) vs my gamertag (A).

So GrowlingYapper, your comment isn't what I'm concerned about. I believe you that it's not listed publicly. It's just the convenience of logging in without having to scroll over due to other accounts on my box. Boo hoo! ) First world problems, man!!

 

I understand what you mean, Its always been done like that I remember a few threads about this during the first few months of the preview I had the problem as well but one gt wasn't used so got rid of that so mine was first again, Which is a bit stupid
as I own the console its registered in my name so it should always be first GT or real name good luck.

 

Hi again, so I was having a think about this because recently my Xbox has been asking me to setup real name sharing which I keep refusing. I can't remember seeing my real name in the account sign-in menu which made think that what if you disabled sharing,
assuming you have it on?

Disable real name sharing

You can turn off name sharing at any time from Settings:

1.Go to the Home screen.

2.Press the Menu button on your controller.

3.Select Settings.

4.Go to Privacy & online safety.

5.Select Custom.

6.Scroll right to the desired setting:

◦Share my real name

◦Share my real name with friends of friends
