how do you record video clips longer than 10-25 seconds?

how do you record clips longer than 1 second-25 in the new OS? I remember before the new update to the OS for backwards compatability, it was two hits to the x button and it bring up the side screen to record clips. now when I do it,all I see are my friends
list and on the upper right, Y or X , screen shot or to record just that instant.

most of the web only talks about prior to the Backwards compatability, which is easy, but now im lost.

    :)

  2. need help with xbox one recording

Is there a way to change how long my clips can record? It seems like everytime I record a clip it only records the last 15 seconds. Is there a way to make it longer?

need help with xbox one recording

    Double tap Xbox Home button
    Snap an app
    Game DvR
    End clip
Pick how long you want to be recorded of past gameplay (5 minutes max)

You have to hit the Home button twice to bring up the sidebar, then navigate down to apps. Choose Game DVR from the apps menu. It'll snap it. Then you choose End Clip, and pick between 30 seconds, 1 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 and 5 minutes.

It'll record that amount of gameplay, and it'll also record your motionless or paused screen, in the inordinate amount of time it took you to get Game DVR snapped to record anything more than 30 seconds. Harrumph!

Used to be you hit Home twice, press right, choose Game DVR, and it'd snap. Done. Or you could snap Game DVR, close it, and then press Home twice and hit right to snap it instantly back in. Took two seconds. But that was before the "'fastest' most social
    Xbox experience ever!" update.

I've noticed too that even if you choose to record 5 minutes now, it'll often pick some arbitrary time, like 3:46 or something. Weird. Needs fixing. Heh ha.

  6. This is one area where my PS4 beats my Xbox One, I'm afraid. I just hit my share button, then the square, and it saves 15 minutes. I go in and trim it with a couple of button clicks while watching frame by frame.

However, I will give Xbox One credit as well. I love how it defaults to a 30 second clip, which is often all I need, and puts in right on the feed. This is a handy feature as well.

That's why people buy a PVR. Many people on Xbox 360 too share gameplay on YouTube. I got a Hauppauge HD PVR2 at the start of 2014. Another good PVR I heard is also the elgato or something. Hauppauge is good too.

Benefits is record gameplay in 1080p, records game/party chat and game sound and game music, and commentary. Most of these features I find are lacking with the Xbox DVR. You can also record for as long as you want, not just 30 seconds or 5 minutes lol.

The Xbox DVR feature is like a *BASIC* PVR thingy. But I'm happy they included it for those who don't want to fork out $100 or $200 for a PVR/capture card. A bonus with the DVR is you share your stuff directly on your Xbox profile. But for those with a PVR,
YouTube is the popular place to share it.

to not have a real decent pvr in a supposed entertainment system is sort of ironic imo

    @xeng

I think you can upload your videos pretty much directly to Youtube.

What you need to do is:-

Record the in game video you want using Xbox One Game DVR for however long you want it up to 5 mins, click stop recording.

Go to the Youtube App making sure you're signed into your account and click left and go to uploads.

Click on Uploads and select the video you just recorded.

Then name it and make private / public etc and click upload.

It should now be on your Youtube Account do do whatever you want with it.

    Hope this helps

I guess they could have put a better DVR on Xbox 1, but that would really up the price on the console. A lot of people here complained about the $100 extra for the console WITH Kinect, some said "I find no use for it". I'd imagine my Hauppauge HD PVR2 has
better PVR hardware than what Xbox 1's hardware has. My PVR does one job, and it does it well. I remember this Sealord TV add. If you live in New Zealand (and perhaps Australia), Sealord is a quality tuna food maker. It mentioned how other companies do multiple
things where as Sealord focuses on ONE thing, and it does THAT thing, WELL. That's the case with PVR's. Elgato, Hauppauge, etc. Xbox 1 does many things, but it's PVR/DVR feature isn't up to what dedicated PVR's/Capture Cards, can do.

Kids can afford PVR's. They're about $200. Xbox 1's main forte remains GAMING. But you can watch videos, video chat on it, and chose which apps from XBL to get.
