How do you migrate your Xbox Account to another region and how do you check your current...

Recently, I've tried to change my Xbox Account region to the one I am currently living in. I've found an article on that subject:

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/microsoft-account/update-microsoft-account-country-region

However, this article is clearly missing some information in Step 2 between "Sign in to your Xbox profile" and "Select Next".
There is obviously supposed to be a directive on what page to open after you sign in, and on that page you should be presented with the "Next" option to select. After digging around I have found a blog post by Major Nelson from 2013 that linked
to a page that seems to be the one I need:

    https://account.xbox.com/en-US/AccountMigration

This page has a "Next" button, and following steps in the instruction correspond to next pages after that one.

So I used it, changed my region from US to Russia and clicked "I Accept". The instruction here warns you, that "you may not get a confirmation notification, but your account will now
be migrated." And indeed, the page loaded for some time and then with no confirmation or any sort of notification redirected me to a home page (I misremember if it was a profile home or one of landing pages for Xbox). Supposed to be migrated now, right? Well,
I do not know where to check that, as Xbox Account pages do not show your region, and Microsoft Store has a separate region that I successfully changed beforehand. One indicator though is that prices are still displayed in USD and my balance, that is not migrate-able,
    is intact.

I have tried to migrate using the same page one more time, but now it ends in an unknown error from the migration service. There is a possibility that migration takes time, but it is not indicated in
any form on support pages. Also, there have been no automatic email correspondence regarding my request, though I don't know if there is supposed to be any.

So, is there any way to check your current region? Is this the correct way to migrate accounts? Is the process instantaneous or does it take some time?

    :)

How do you migrate your Xbox Account to another region and how do you check your current region?

    Hello, Chris,

I guess I will wait a day or two more before contacting reps. Though, regarding your suggestion about checking my current region... That "Change 360 account region" link actually goes to the same page I mentioned: https://account.xbox.com/en-US/AccountMigration And,
frankly, I don't see my current region printed out there. So no luck with that.

But thanks for confirming, that the migration may take a couple of days. I will wait and then contact reps, if nothing happens.

    Cheers!

How do you migrate your Xbox Account to another region and how do you check your current region?

    Hello PycBouH,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. i understand that the region change you applied doesn't look like it has taken effect. It may take some time for the migration to complete after a region change has been applied. Waiting 24-48 hours could do
the trick to allow the change to sync.

You may be able to see your region by going to the "Change 360 account region" page. This page does handle the region to your entire Microsoft account, even though 360 is mentioned in the title :

    1. Go to account.xbox.com
    2. Click on your Gamer tag/Gamer pic at the top right of the page
    3. Click on the 3 dots on the bottom right of the pop up menu
    4. Select "Xbox settings"
    5. Select "Change 360 account region"

    You may also
contact a live Xbox support representative
so that they can go over your account details with you.

    Hope this helps!

How do you migrate your Xbox Account to another region and how do you check your current region?

    Hey, ArminatorX,

This page seems to show billing information associated with Microsoft account, which does not seem to be related to Xbox Account region. The country listed in this billing data is correct, but as I said, I have indeed changed my region on Microsoft account
successfully. But that's a separate thing.

I believe, that system language does not affect currency provided by Microsoft Store. I did not check my Xbox yet, but in Xbox app for PC as well as on web prices are in USD in every place I check. And though my Xbox and Windows installation are indeed set
up to be in English (and I would never change the language just to be able to pay), even Russian Microsoft Store on web shows prices in USD. So there's that.

How do you migrate your Xbox Account to another region and how do you check your current region?

On https://live.xbox.com/Account/BillingAccountInformation you should be able to see what country your account currently has. On the right under "Country/Region"
is a non-editable text entry that shows your account country.

As for your prices showing in US Dollar, if you have a Xbox One, try setting the console's country and language settings to Russia (or your desired country).

how do you Migrate your account

Hey there James! Unfortianetly, it is not possible to "migrate" an account to another region, you will need to make a new account with the proper information of the new region you live in. :)
