How do you melee?

So I chose the Witch Doctor or whatever he's called for my first time playing. When I first started I was able to hit RT to melee. I know it's probably not really a melee type character, but still I was able. Shortly after that a new spell auto equipped
in that slot.

Now I can't melee and I am picking up newer and better weapons as I go. Are they pointless since it no longer melees? I can't unequipp the spell that is now in RT. I can only use a new spell.

Yes how could I forget High Ground! It is one of those maps that I used to like until it was like trying to get blood out of a stone. Halo 3 is becoming a hard game to continue playing as you can no longer have a 'quick game of Halo 3' unless you play Social
Slayer and even then people quit out.

I'm indifferent about Standoff, people usually just rush the warthog which is a shame because it is map with multiple possibilities - invisibility - shotgun - Br - Warthog - Mongoose - Rockets and Laser etc. The warthog decimates all my team-mates who are
incapable of killing it and I have to focus solely on killing it with power-drain/plasma pistol and either BR or grenades. It always gets me when I'm caught unprepared so it is truly a game changer.

I'll try it! thanks! it just seems like all of the original maps in multi-player ranked and social have dissappeared. Is it perhaps because i have the newer maps installed or Reach that they aren't part of the options when voting?

 

Nevermind. I found out that you can't which sucks.

 

Whatever skill you have on RT, set that skill to any other button. Then your RT slot will be blank. Although it's pointless, you don't need to melee with Witchdoctor. The damage from any melee weapon you equip will transfer to your spells.

 

I was trying to set the skill to a different button, but it wouldn't move. Thanks though. As long as the weapons aren't useless it's ok.

 

There is a setting that allows freedom of skill assignment. I don't remember the verbage it uses, but check the settings. It's a tick box to allow assigning any skill to any button. Otherwise, you are restricted to skill combinations that you may not want.

 

In the options menu, under game play, select the Elective Mode option. This will allow you to freely place attacks into any button. Also, as was stated above, the weapon itself for some character is visual only, although the stats will effect you attacks
power, speed, etc.

 

No, It isn't pointless to pick up the weapons because all your spells and abilities are enhanced through your weapons damage and stats. Even though you aren't physically hitting an enemy, that weapon with 200 damage is applying that damage to your spells.

 

Thanks for the advice. I found how to map melee to any button although it's not beneficial with the WD.

 

It's not beneficial with any class to maintain a non skill attack like a basic melee attack, other than fun and flavour.

Melee attacking with the weapon that you're holding isn't worth it when you can assign an attack skill that doesn't drain resources to it
