How do YOU Justify Paying the Full Retail Price Tag on Video Games?

I think games are well worth the money, especially now what with the amazing graphics and high production values. Some games can transport you to a new world (Skyrim, Lost Odyssey), while others make you feel like your in a movie (Gears of War, Call of Duty).

 

I pay full price for games that I think I will just get trapped in and love. Watch Dogs is a good example, I thought it had a good chance of doing that and it delivered. I don't regret that at all.

I obviously get disappointed a bit doing that too, like if I paid full price for Deadpool, I wouldn't have been happy, even though it's a great game it's not $60 great.

 

Thanks for the replies, I enjoyed reading through them. I am more than happy to pay full retail price for a game if it's a game that I will put a lot of hours into, if it's not then I will wait for a price drop. Like someone said
above, graphically games are improving. Budgets for triple A games have increased so if developers want to charge more for a game I will happily pay more.

 

Back in the day it was because I had to have it but now it is a factor of not wanting to wait to get it. Lately I have been waiting for the deal of the week or price drops.

 

I will only pay full price if I pre order a game otherwise I will usually wait for sales or when the price goes down to a reasonable amount.

 

Here in Australia, I shop at Target for games. It's usually $20 cheaper then GS/EB. If not Target then i'll go to every posible outlet at the Mall and buy the cheapest. Independant stores are usually better for pricing and imports.

Yes it indeed is got it for $5.00 dollars when they had the Rockstar sales on the Xbox store. It is hard to find a retail disk copy of it quite rare. Target is awesome for games picked up my Pokemon Y Nintendo 3Ds from there for real cheap. Big W is also
great when they have there sales. Ebgames can be alright when they have there sales as well as JB HI FI otherwise I avoid them usually. We have an independent store called Gauntlet up here I go to for cheap games also At the end of the day it is always
best to shop around for the best prices.

 

When Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out later this year, there is no way in hell I'll be patient enough to wait around for a price drop. I have to have it! I've cut back on buying new games, not so much because of the price, but I just don't have the time
to play that many games. What happens then, is that when I finally do get around to playing XYZ game, it is now on sale for $20.

 

Yes, I agree about Dragon Age. I feel that way about the next Fallout too. Those are probably the only two games I'll pay $60 for and it's because I'll be too impatient to wait.

 

I use a similar model as the OP. If I will get a large amount of hours out of the game then I can see paying full price for it. How much I think I will like the game also factors in though. I am not a huge fan of certain styles of games so I will wait
for large price drops on those, even if they are well received games.

 

I only buy new games at Best Buy or when I see something cheap, so I never pay full price for games.

 

Guys, I would also Pay $60 for the new Dragon Age, except it will no doubt be $99 here and $110 in NZ.

 

Yep about $100 bucks for the standard edition.

 

I used to buy all the games I wanted at full price on release day, now I only buy games at the price I feel they are worth, the more hours i get out of them the more i am willing to pay...

Dragon Age is a pre order buy but ill probably only get the standard edition. Got so much collectors stuff from other games we are running outta space in the house
