How do you get Family Safety App to report location accurately (Android)?

Thank you for getting back to me with this information. However, a lot of it doesn't apply. The main part of your reply was related to activity reports and such, which was not my question. My question was around the location sharing portion of the app only.

I am using a Samsung S20FE on Android version 13. From what you suggested, all of the permissions are turned on correctly. Family Safety is set to provide location all the time. Google location accuracy is turned on as well.

You can see in the screenshot below that location is from over 20 days ago for two people. We use our phone every day, so I don't understand how this is possible. This is a screen shot from the website for Family Safety.

When I open the Family Safety app on my phone, it always comes up with "We couldn't find their location" for all my family members.

What is the device make, model and android version?



So far, from the details you provided, you can try the following steps and let us know the result. You can just skip those you have done already.



If you’re not getting activity reports in the app for a member of your family group, do the following:

1. Open the Xbox Family Settings app, and then do one of the following to get to Settings:
   
   • Select the tile for the account that you want to manage, and then select the Settings icon in the top right of the screen.
     
   • Select the Settings icon at the bottom of the Family screen, and then select the tile for the account that you want to manage.
     
2. Select the Screen time tile, and then select the toggle switch to enable Show activity reports.
   

If the member is of the age of majority (for example, 18 in the US), they have control of this setting and may have turned it off. If they want to turn it on, they'll need to sign in to their account, find their name in the family roster, select Manage permissions, and then switch on Activity reporting and history.

Sign in and view your Microsoft family group

To see a child’s activity for all devices, including their Android device, follow the steps in:

Thank you for your response. The troubleshooting steps you sent over were not helpful as those were for a Windows computer and my issue is with Android devices.

I am running v1.24.1.958 of the Android app. I did uninstall the app and then reinstall it. When I did that, and opened the map, everyone in my family did show up. So, I will work on trying that on the other devices and see if that fixes the issue.
