    How do you get around the HDCP issue?


    I recently attempted to watch a DVD on my Series X, but each attempt has resulted in the HDCP issue. I managed to get it tobwork once by turning the TV off and on again, but nothing has worked since. Any suggestions?

    I'm on a replacement console now and just as things are working I start getting this exact issue... I've had DVD's and Bluray's work fine on this console, but now all I get is this HDCP error.

    If I swap HDMI ports around enough or fiddle around with the HDMI cables I might get lucky in getting a movie to play, but once the console goes off and I want to put something else on, I'm right back to where I started. HDCP Error.

    What Brand/Model of TV are you using? Does it support HDCP 2.2?

    What resolution are you running the Xbox at? If you are running at 4K, have you tried setting it to 1080p? That may isolate an HDCP issue with the TV or Monitor.

    There is a good breakdown of HDCP here.

    That may give you more things to try.

    PS4 records more gameplay than Xbox One. (PS4) 15 minutes, (Xbox One) five minutes

    No it's not, it'll be more of a faff but there are work arounds. To remove the HDCP (copy protection for those who don't know)

    I did say BASIC of course there are work arounds but the last thing I wanted to do is promote how to circumvent copyright protection on the forums but I guess you did :(

    Thanks for the heads up. It sounds like it may have been an HDCP issue. Some TVs do not like an extra device in the HDCP path.
