how do you drive this crazy thing

I have never really played any racing games, but apparently I stink at it. I just got the limited edition forza 6 xbox and I have set all the settings to easiest and I still cant get past the 1st of the 3 trial races you have to beat. All the cars seem
to drive faster than me while sticking to the road a whole lot better. If I try to keep up speed wise I slide all over the place! Just hit level 2 but don't seem to be making much progress. Is it just a matter of learning how to barely move the left stick
for steering while keeping your speed under control? Or does your car begin to handle better as you go up levels? I can barely keep this thing on the road.

I do the same freaking thing and it drives me crazy. But, that's my only real gripe so far.

 

How do you move things around in this game?

Hold down the A button then you should grab the item.

 

in Forza its not about having the fastest car on the track, its about how you handle drifting, drafting taking the turns without sliding across the road. The faster the car the less reliable they are with taking corners/turns, .. you can easily jump
out in the lead, or up higher spots in race just by taking a turn the right way... do you have it set were it brakes for you automatically or do you have it set were you do the braking yourself. Also what car are you using, cause when picking dont go
for the car with the highest speed rating, look for higher handling and control....

 

And slow down with the corners, if you are going to fast the assiset brake wont help you !!!

 

Dragon speaks the truth.... No matter how much help you have on if you are going top speed youre going for a trip through the grass/dirt, or into the wall or all three.... Just remember racing in Forza is not just about youre speed, its youre all around
driving skills....

 

Mess with the assists and the difficulty of the AI

Turn on brake assist and just try and stay on the line, the game will slow down for you so you can get the hang of it

 

I would suggest turning off break assist and just learn the track. Successful navigating corners is a great way to pass cars. When break assist is on it limits how fast you can come out of a corner. Also...and this may be too soon for you, but using manual
shift is a great way to accelerate quickly out of corners or if you spin out. Try without using clutch, look at the controller configuration to see which buttons shift. I use config 4. Drop down to 3rd gear when taking corners and you'll have more acceleration
coming out. It's also loads of fun to shift but if that's too much definetly turn break assist off and learn the tracks.

 

thanks for all the feedback. was getting frustrated because I would be sliding when only doing 38 to 41 miles per hour. I drive a lot of gravel roads and don't slid out when going that slow. Seemed a little unrealistic to be sliding on casual turns when
going this slow.

Seems while I wasn't looking my 8 year old son managed to get passed the 2nd race

 

Teach yourself delicate throttle & brake control and you will be lapping faster than you ever would be with the assists on. With sport or even street tyres fitted your car can handle reasonably well if you let your tyres warm up fully before going hard.
Brake hard going into a corner, throttle hard after the apex coming out. If you tune the diff correctly it will act as a primitive traction control without the power loss. I have to admit that I am guilty of using ABS but always try to brake whilst not having
the ABS interfere, which is forking hard. Learn to rely less on the assists & more on youself and you will become a much better driver.

 

I will feed of the initial question here. This is my first experience with gaming. I have the Logitech 920 wheel and can't get any higher than 23 place on the first race. Its hard to think that I need to finish in the top 3 on 3 races to move beyond. What
am I missing? I have about 3 days of use on the xbox and FM6.

 

That is what has to be done, you need to be finishing top 3.... in the series you run, maybe not every race, but you need to be in the top always, its like running a racing circuit with the points and stuff....

 

Would agree with most of the posts here. Try reducing Drivatar difficulty. Would also suggest trying to not use auto braking assist but instead pay attension to the colour changes within the suggested driving line. Hitting the brakes as soon as you can see
in the distance, the colour of the driving line changing from green to yellow. If the steering is way too sensitive, try firming up the front anti roll bar. Good luck.

 

you can also up your gear to match the pace of the other cars a little better by tuning it up to stay within the same class. Just know that if you upgrade too many things at once you will make your car reach into the next class

basically they go by tiers. DCBAS so on and so fourth if am not mistaken. Tier C would be the first set you get yourself into. If you were to go out and buy a part in the garage tune up. you might find yourself doing a little better than the last time.
