How do you create a save file for a backwards compatible game without using an existing save ...

I don't have access to save files for several backwards compatible games, Borderlands for instance, so I started an entirely new game. I saved it through the start menu seemingly without a problem, but when I went back to play again there wasn't a
save file available. I imagine it's probably because the xbox 360 accessed its hard drive differently than the xbox one does and the game just doesn't know how to access the xbox one's hard drive or the cloud (but thinks it's saving games nonetheless). Has
anyone figured out a way to circumvent this yet?

For some games it's possible if he's playing the Backward Compatible version. For newer games It's up to the publishers to allow it and create a feature or a way to transfer those saves. Unfortunately not many games have a feature like that. So for the Backward
Compatible titles, you'll just need to move the save game into the cloud storage and then sign in on the Xbox One console using the same profile that has the save in cloud storage. Here's how to do that.

Im having trouble saving files on my backwards compatible games I never played my Xbox 360 online and I got rid of it when I got my Xbox one I never created a gamertag or any of that on my Xbox 360 now my bc games are not letting me save if anybody can
please tell me how to go about creating a gamertag profile whatever it is I need to be able to save my backwards compatible games without my Xbox 360 for my Xbox one I would really appreciate it thanks in advance I have tried everything

This often applies when your profile is signed into Xbox One but not the Xbox 360 emulation used to play backwards compatible titles. When launching a backwards compatible title such as Borderlands, make sure you press the Menu and View buttons at the same
time to bring up the 360 Guide. If it notes "Connect to Xbox Live", then your profile is not properly signed in and will not record game saves.

That was exactly the problem, and I guess I had somehow accidentally accessed this the first time I played because when I did today I found my original character. Ha! Thanks for your help.

If a save game gets corrupted (specially in a backward compatibility game) there isn't much you can do but delete the corrupted save file and start over.

My suggestion is to save often as things like these tend to happen with old game emulators

Hey there OrbitalBeard,

To clarify, I had verified the post because those are the verified steps that need to be taken in order to allow this functionality to work through Backward Compatibility.

What you'll need to do is boot up the game on your profile on an Xbox 360 console and create a save file in the cloud for the Sonic Games. Once this is done, you'll be able to use the lock on features on Xbox One.

I understand you don't have an Xbox 360, but would it be possible to use a friend or family member's console to do this? We'd also love for you to fill out the Backward Compatible survey
HERE as well. This way the teams will have more specific information on what you're seeing, specifically how you're seeing the issue without an Xbox 360 console.

Keep us in the loop and let us know what happens after you fill out the survey and if you get a chance to create those saves on an Xbox 360 console.
