How do you connect an xbox one controller to a laptop?

I've tried numerous times to connect the controller to my laptop, but it refuses to do anything. I installed the drivers, but when i plugged the controller in nothing happened. I searched through my installed drivers and couldn't find it anywhere. So I
tried to reinstall it again, but it just came up with 'repair' or 'uninstall', so it obviously installed, but the controller is just not recognising it. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Well how do you properly connect the wireless controller to the xbox one?

 

Have to unplug and replug Xbox One every time to turn it on

I know this thread is over a year old, but did you find any solution?

I used to be able to plug my xbox one controller into my laptop and power it from the usb socket and then play on the xbox one. Now I can't.

Got a new cable, plug in and it immediately turns the control on, but it does not show as connected.

When unplugged the controller needs resynchronising again. Annoying.

Windows 10 Home Fully updated.

You should really have started a new thread for your issue.

All I would suggest for you problem is to try using an alternate USB cable as not all USB cables are fully wired some are only wired for charging devices.
