How do Xbox gold quests work?

So a little while back I saw a notification on my xbox home landing page for a "quest" which some "mystery prizes". This was the October 2018 quest, I completed it and quite enjoyed the promotion. I've read around this forum and apparently there have been
several more months of quests which I've just never seen anything for - no email, nothing I can find on the web, no notifications or messages on my xbox.

Based on that I was wondering how the quests work and how you can find out what they are for any given month.

other key information/thoughts:

- I am not referring to the game pass quests

- is there a region lock on the quests?

The quests that i know of are the Xbox game pass quests, the Xbox Live gold quests, they work a bit like the game pass quests, and then there are the Microsoft rewards quests, which are pretty similar to how the xbox live rewards quests worked. You purchase
certain games or films, and then you get so many points on your account for doing it.

A lot of them are only available in the US unfortunately. No love for us across the pond.

I a wondering this but I had one show-up on my xbox so I don't see why only 1 would be available outside the US and the rest aren't? I also can't seem to find anything from Microsoft's side indicating they are region restricted to just the US.
