How do people get games days, a week early?

Someone has already racked up 500+ WINS on matchmaking.

Let's say each win was 5 minutes, that's a whopping 2500 minutes or 41 hours.

Add on a conservative 50 losses and ties at 5 minutes each for another 4 hours.

Other people started playing on the 3rd November, a week and a day ahead of release...

Disgusted that people manage to get such a head start in games as big as Halo.

Same thing happened with Destiny and Call of Duty. Bungie has commended various gamers for reaching milestones on Destiny and Call of Duty usually commends the first players for reaching max prestige before everyone else. How can these accolades be taken seriously
when some have the game a whole WEEK before others?

Let's just hope in 4 hours time I don't have to re-download my copy as I did with Advanced Warfare...

Doom 5

I pre ordered Doom 5 about a week ago for the xbox one. Do I get access to the beta in a few days? How does that work.

Well if we assume 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and 50 work weeks a year we get

8 x 5 x 50 x 30 = 60,000 man hours which gives us 60,000 / 7 (weeks) = 8572 (rounded up) man hours per week

I know Activision claims there are over 500 people working on Call of Duty titles, lets also assume they are working 12 hour days 7 days a week to be ready for release. Thats 84 hours a week which means (8572 / 84 =) 102 people working on the title. More
if you have shorter or less days

So while I do not believe the claim it is possible with the help of staff both inside and outside the company

I picked up mine by random luck. I walked into a flea market and there was a video game place selling it on Saturday. I wasn't aiming to buy it early but I certainly wasn't going to turn it down once I saw it for sale!

The matchmaking servers aren't even up yet so whoever you saw with 500+ wins is playing custom games.

It's not illegal if it was sold at a retailer. The only thing there is an embargo on is uploading things. Sharing a video or streaming on Twitch could get a ban. Playing early won't.

Depends how early it was. 2 or 3 days, fair enough I'll put the game in. A week? I'd probably sit on it for a few days especially with a big release like Halo where Microsoft are a bit fussy over their games (think Reach and Gears had the same rules about
early play).

I always think of people who get it 2-3 days early as like those people who go to preview screenings at the cinema. Any earlier than that tends to make me suspicious especially if I know they're not game reviewers.
