How do Multiple Consoles Work with one Gold?

I didn't see anything like this in the search but figured someone knew the answer. I'm looking to buy a 2nd console for our home but wanted to know how the game titles would work. Currently, all of the games (gold or not) are under my account which is
also the gold account. The other accounts are all part of the family grouping.

So how do the titles work on the 2nd console if we buy one? My account will be on it but it wouldn't be the 'home' console.

Will the kids be able to still play the games that are licensed under me if they play on the 2nd console (gold and not)?

Will they get the gold benefits (playing online) of my account on the 2nd console as well?

Also, there are forum listings about NAT issues with multiple consoles but they are older. I'm assuming the S / X won't have issues like this or is it still there?

Lastly, we've had issues with Play anywhere titles and I wanted to confirm if the behavior will go away if we buy another console.

For Example, I own a digital copy and a disc copy of FH3.

I can't be logged into the console. My kid has to play the game on the console from the disc inserted (autostart or it will launch the digital version). I can then start the game from the PC and we can play online together.

However, sometimes it kicks one of us out saying the license is in use. It also kicks him out if I open the xbox app on my android phone saying the license is in use. I think it may be logging me in on the xbox occasionally.

Will this behavior still occur if each account has a purchased digital copy of a game (say FH4)?

Thank you for any info you can provide.

    :)

For the last year or two my xbox has been disconnecting every one to two hours

    Hey SW33T,

The firmware on some routers does not support having multiple consoles being connected to the network.

As for the Xbox One, we don't have any details on how they will work with an Xbox 360 on routers that currently do not support multiple consoles, but I would still recommend getting a router that has confirmed multiple console support to be safe.

You can only share your games/gold on your Home console. So in order to share your content, the other profiles would have to continue to use your Home console. If they were to use the 2nd non-Home console, they would not have access to any of it.

NAT issues can occur on any of the consoles, but it doesn't always happen. I've always had multiples of each version of the One hooked up and never had any issues.

If each account purchases their own copy of a game, you shouldn't run into any of those issues.

  6. Smwutches gave a good description of how it works. I game share with my wife. I am the Gold member and she does not have Gold. In order for her to be able to play any games (since we buy digital, all under my account) she has to be logged into her profile,
which is signed into my 'Home' Xbox One. If memory serves, anyone who plays on my home Xbox will have access to my games and XBL.

I play on her 'Home' Xbox One S and I have access to all of my digital content and XBL. It only works this way for digital titles. Not sure what's going on with the disc title, but it shouldn't happen with digital as long as you have the Home consoles set
up properly. If you have your Home consoles properly set, you should only need to purchase one digital title with the account that has Gold and anyone logged into their own profile on the Gold owner's Home Xbox should have access to all digital content owned
by that account. Something else you may want to keep in mind is that anytime you happen to lose internet for some reason, you won't be able to play your games unless you are signed into your Home Xbox One... which also means nobody else will have access to
    any of your content.

In my experience, NAT issues with multiple Xbox One consoles are more common than uncommon, but it largely depends on your home network setup. Many standard ISPs' equipment simply doesn't have the ability to allow 2 Xboxes online at the same time. Comcast
is one of them. When we got our 2nd Xbox for my wife, we had at least 4 visits by 'trained' technicians trying to get them set up and working together. After one said visit, both consoles were online with open NAT and the technician was literally in the process
of pulling out of our driveway when her Xbox got booted from the network and couldn't connect without moderate/strict NAT.

At the time, the modem/router combo they used didn't have UPnP. That (and a router that utilizes it well) is what you will need for open NAT. It took me awhile to convince my wife that we needed our own network equipment, but when she finally agreed to get
our own separate modem and router, I set them up, made sure the router had UPnP turned on and we haven't had a problem with NAT since... that's been about 3 years... and our equipment actually yielded better latency than comcast's did.

Home gold for multiple consoles at home on same network?

Home gold will only work for the one console that is set as the Home console. It's not possible to share gold across multiple consoles.

    New Concern for Home Gold

That's not how it works Hairy. The silver account is logged in to the Home Gold console, so they get Gold benefit & access to any games from that console. The gold account logs in on the non Home Gold console, but they get gold benefit no matter what system
they're logged onto. The gold account can't be signed into multiple Xbox Ones at the same time. It can be signed into an Xbox One & 360 at the same time.
