I bought the Play & Charge Kit because I am handicapped and the Xbox and TV are on the other side of the room. I want to charge it by plugging it into a USB slot on my PC, however, when I do that, it stops controlling my Xbox One. When I push the Power
button on the controller, it loads Steam instead. Xbox Customer Service doesn't seem to understand my issue and googling it brings up the opposite of what I want to do, so let me spell it out:

I WANT TO CHARGE MY XBOX ONE CONTROLLER VIA THE PC USB SLOT WITHOUT IT TURNING INTO A PC CONTROLLER INSTEAD OF AN XBOX ONE CONTROLLER!!!

Can I charge the Play & Charge kit on my PC?

I am curious if the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit will charge properly when connected via USB to a PC? Or even if I can use my mobile phone charger (Wall charger with mini-USB) to charge my controller... Any idea?

Play and charge kit wont connect controller to pc

So today i bought a xbox one controller and a "play and charge kit" to play games on my pc (my old xbox 360 controller broke) and for some reason the controller wont connect to my pc, when im using the charger. However it does work with my phone charger.
The problem is that my phone charger isnt long enough. The controller is charging with the regular charger though, but isnt connected like with the phone charger.

So my question is: Why dont the regular "play and charge kit" charger work?

Sorry but once you plug the controller into your computer it becomes a controller for the computer and cannot be circumvented. If you considered getting a usb cable extender to see if that will work for the Xbox One console for you?

Hi Lord Norr.

This is a problem with your Play and Charge Kit, not the controller. One of my controllers used to do the exact same thing until I replaced it with a new charge kit.

I have used both the Xbox Branded play and charge kit and two different off brand kits one is the Nyko an the other is a plug and play charge cable by Energizer both do the same as the Official Xbox Charge and Play kit... My controller also does not work
with my buddies cables or kits. Still works fine with my other non-updated controller, and they all work with my friends controller that is also not updated... I finally just bought the Energizer Charger stand... It works so that is fine with me... Still pretty
sure something about the controller update jacked my controller... Not saying it was the update, just think the process got *** somehow.

I just use the play and charge kit to turn my controller into a wired one, it's still easier to use than the batteries.

If you are looking for a rechargeable battery for your controller I would recommend getting an official play and charge kit.

I have been using the official Xbox One play and charge kit for quite a number of years and it's still holding its charge and working great, additionally I have just checked my play and charge kit and it says it's a 3V battery.

No it is not a play and charge kit mine is a dreamgear charge kit. And yes i tried different USB charges but the thing is that the battery is fully charged but my controller ain't working with it
