How do I update my phone number with Microsoft.

I'm sorry to see any issues with updating your phone number. While it is a process that takes 30 days if you don't have access to another security proof on your account, it is an easy 10 minutes if you do!

If you know your security information on your account, you will want to
add security info to your Microsoft account. This is fairly painless and is a quick process if you have access to other security info on your account.

However, if you don't have access to any of those options anymore, you will need to

update all of your Microsoft security info. This will lock down your account for 30 days and you won't be able to make any online purchases. I get that it's frustrating to have to do that, however it's for the safety of your account and your personal information.
Think if someone else had done this to your account, where you have all of your purchases and your credit/debit cards. They could easily go through and make purchases on your account, and you would be powerless because you wouldn't have access to your account
anymore.

How do I update my new phone number

Hi, Altony! I understand that you need help changing your phone number to your Microsoft account.

This requires you to login to your Microsoft account, so you must have the email address and the password. Once you're logged in, go to your profile and add a phone number.

Important: If you replace all of the sign-in security information, there's a 30 day waiting period for the changes to take effect. During this time, you can still access most Microsoft services, but you won’t be able to do things that require a security or verification code.

1. Sign in to your account using your existing alias and password.
2. Go to Your info at the top of the page.
3. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
4. You may be asked to verify your account before changes can be made. Follow the instructions provided to select your alias:
   • Select Add email. You can create either a new Outlook.com email address or add an address that you already have. Then, select Add alias. You’ll be returned to the previous screen. Select Verify and
     follow the instructions provided.
   • Or, select Add phone number. Enter the phone number you want to use, and then select Next. When you add a new phone number, we'll send a text message to that number to verify it. Enter the code in the text message, and
     then select Next.
     Note Email addresses and phone numbers that are already an alias on another account can’t be used.
     

It can take up to 48 hours for the change to be implemented across all Microsoft services. If you sign in to your Microsoft account on an Xbox One console by using your Kinect sensor, you might temporarily
be asked to manually sign in with a controller. If you're still being asked to manually sign in after 2 days, try removing your account from the console and then adding it back.
You can use any email address or phone number you have listed as an alias to sign in. To make it harder for someone to break into your account, change your sign-in preferences to turn off any alias
you don't want used to sign in.
