how do i track stolen xbx1?

someone stole my xbox one. how do i track it without the serial #? I usually keep the box for things like that but they stole that too along with my tv and all my games and movies (obviously no way to track those)

but is there a way to track track my xbox if they log into my act or something?

Not sure if you can track it but you should log into your account online and change your password asap so they cannot use your account.

There is no real way to personally track down the location of the Xbox console.

Report the console to the local authorities (as well as your insurance company), and secure your Microsoft account to prevent unauthorized purchases.

 

That is not entirely true. Your console connects to Microsoft servers. Microsoft servers collect geographical information of the location where the console was last used. Although it can be a rough estimate.

With Google and google maps, you can locate lost/stolen smartphones.

Here's how you can do some of it with your Microsoft Account.

Go to xbox.com (this site), sign in, click on your profile, go to your Microsoft Account, click on Security, click on Review Recent Activity.

Microsoft could track it, it's just not something they put much emphasis on.

If you've lost your Xbox, contact Xbox Support immediately. When your console connects to XBL, XBL collects information about your console, most likely your serial number. Microsoft can ban consoles too. So when that console tries to connect to XBL, lol
it will get banned.

However, this feature works for Windows 10 PC's. Which notes any successful and unsuccessful sign in attempts. And it shows a map. On IE/Edge, it even shows a map of my suburb, or at least my city. It even lists the name of my PC's too.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8, and Samsung and the latest Google OS Nougat, can track my phone if it gets lost/stolen. Or, you could stick a GPS tracker by opening your console (not recommended) and dumping one inside. It's 2017, and
Microsoft, we really should be able to securely track a lost console. People can track lost cars and phones these days. After all, Xbox consoles are pretty expensive. I see people and regulars on here winging about the tiny fee of Xbox Live Gold membership
which is fairly priced by Microsoft and when you compare the costs to the amount you spend on food, groceries, electricity, internet, partying, takeaways, and the cost of a console.

 

I actually did some viewing on my Microsoft Account. Yes Xbox Live Microsoft servers DO! record your Xbox One console's Serial Number! And since Microsoft can provide geographical data which fact it does, I'm amazed at this record Microsoft keeps.
And when you are viewing this info from your Microsoft Account, the address bar on your IE/Edge browser has a padlock, which means the website page is secure and encrypted.

Actually I've seen several 'I lost my Xbox console/stolen/lost' threads on here. Microsoft really should build more on this. However if you do lose or if someone steals your console, you should also report it to the police too. Microsoft doesn't just provide
ZERO SUPPORT if you've lost your console. Things you should do include contacting Xbox Support, contact the police, change your Microsoft Account password and change the email address your MS account is associated with (google/Hotmail/yahoo/school email/work
email etc).

Microsoft does have like a phone verification service, where if you or someone logs onto your account from a foreign location or foreign device, Microsoft sends a verification code to your smartphone number. Google, Yahoo and Steam use this authentication
technique too.

Customers expect more out of what can be rather pricy devices. Computers, consoles, phones, cars. It definitely shouldn't be "oh, you lost it or it got stolen. You have to fork out $$$$$$$$ on another". You could get insurance, but I doubt people on here
do that, since they complain about paying a low fee for Xbox Live Gold subscription.
