    How do I stop my Xbox Series X from crashing regularly when I'm playing games?


    For the past month I've been experiencing regular crashes on my Series X when I'm playing games. I have attempted to update and power cycle my Series X repeatedly but the issue is still there.

    It seems that games crash when it becomes too 'hectic' - i.e. too many things are happening in single player/multiplayer games that the Series X can't handle so it just freezes and returns to the home screen. How is this possible if the Series X has the best hardware of any console so far?

    My Series X is in a well-ventilated place. Could it be my monitor that's causing the issues? It is quite cheap and doesn't meet the full specs of graphics that the Series X can output. Or do I just need to send it in for a repair/replacement? It's becoming hugely annoying when I'm in the middle of a multiplayer match and I lose all my progress/get banned for leaving. My friends with Series S have never experienced this before.

    Hello Nate, your console is connected directly to an electrical outlet or on some type of surge protector or power strip with other equipment, if so try connecting it to a separate outlet.

    Does this shutdown happen with all games, or just specific ones?

    I just started having this issue on my Series S today. I've played about 25 hours on F4 and had no crashes until I entered the Financial District. Now it crashes regularly. I'm going to try playing on my Series X tonight and see if the issues persist.

    Edit: I encountered 0 issues for over 3 hours on my Series X tonight. So it seems like just a Series S thing for me, and really only in the Diamond City area.

    Because on my Xbox series x, it only shows 'Optimized for series x/s' but if a xbox series x version of a game is NOT 'optimized' how would i know if I'm playing a series x/s version of a game?
