How do I stop my Xbox Series X from blackscreening after I switch away from a game?

Your TV is not handshaking with the resolution or color depth switch that is going on, please make sure your television firmware is properly updated

While it is normal to momentarily go into a black screen when switching to HDR and back, it should not stay there for more than a few seconds. It may also depend on the TV / Monitor model you are using along with the HDMI port and cable. For the Xbox Series X console, be sure to use the Ultra High Speed HDMI cable provided with the console. If you require a longer cable, be sure to purchase a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable that supports HDMI 2.1 features.

You can try to change the display resolution for your TV on Xbox.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   
2. Select Profile & system > Settings.
   
3. Under General, select TV & display options.
   
4. Select Resolution, and then select the best resolution for your TV (either 720p, 1080p, or 4K UHD).
   
   Note If you don't see the resolution for your TV, make sure to set TV connection to Auto detect.

If you believe there is an issue with your device and you need to send it out for repair, make sure you Register your Xbox device

2. Select the device that you want repaired.
   
3. Follow the onscreen steps to complete your service order request.
   

After Device services receives your submission, they’ll send you a service order number and an order confirmation email that includes shipping or drop-off instructions.

Important Send in your device as soon as possible. If you don’t ship your device within 30 days of your request, your service order will be canceled, and the shipping label will no longer be valid. From what they have said, that i understand at least is that games for the first year will be available on the Series X but will be for the Xbox One. Meaning that Series X is going to be back compat and they dont want people to lose out if they dont switch
over right away.

It is on Xbox, and after I resume the stopped installation, it stops after a few seconds with the same message "installation stopped".

Yeah, as I said, I had that happen with a disc and no clue how to fix it.

The only thing I can think of is to cancel the installation and try again...I had an issue with installing some DLC on my Series X as it just would not download...ended up cancelling the DLC, uninstalling the game then reinstalling and it worked.

Beyond that, I guess a hard reset may be an option (no clue how to do it though)..not sure though as I am far from a console expert having only recently bought a console after years away

RESOLVED: I signed out of all devices associated with my Xbox gamertag and resigned in. I'm thinking this was an issue after switching from Xbox One to the Series X.
