How do I stop a game from updating so I can play it?

Ok, so I live in an area with sub-par internet. When I get home from a long day of work, the best way for me to decompress and disassociate is do get lost in some AC. But when I turn on my Xbox, and my game starts automatically updating, my night is ruined. Because, what may be a typical 20 minute update, is more like 3 hours for me. Don't even get me started on the time I had to uninstall and reinstall AC Valhalla, I could have been arrested if the wrong thing was said to me on that 2 DAY journey. Lots of swearing happened.

All I wanna do is stop the update, play my game, and then resume the update later this evening. Is that too much to ask?

However, if the update did not start yet, you can stop auto updates by following the steps a colleague of mine provided in a similar ticket below.

First, thank you so much for contacting us regarding your concern.

Updates are requirements provided by the developers/ publishers. Chox does not issue any game updates unless the game was created by Xbox. In your case, Ubisoft would have issued a game update to repair bugs, add features, etc.

These updates must be completed. If you disrupt ir, you may be forced to install the game and update again. There won't be a way to get around that

I can confirm what vDEACON said, I have downloaded games and updates and played others while it was doing so. It did not appear to stop.

Yes, it's pretty terrible. How can they let people play as the best teams in the game. I mean what are they thinking? They should take all the best teams out of the game to stop people from absuing the system so.

System updates help improve your experience with the addition of new features as well as improvement of existing features. The updates will be downloaded from the Xbox Live service directly to your Xbox One and subsequently installed.

You don't have to update the games. However, if you want to play or communicate on Xbox Live, you must have the latest console software. New games might also require the update before you play them.
