How do I START Fallout 4?

I'm sure I'll get a lot of laughs with this, but could someone, anyone, tell how in hell I can actually play the game I paid good money for?

I got an Xbox one for Christmas, which in itself is a train wreck of a system, popped in my Fallout 4 disc - nothing except endless Vault tec videos.

Over an hour now and I am just about ready to pack the whole thing up, console and all and swap it for something useful, like a hat.......

Seriously, what exactly does it take to actually play a game on this system? The interface is atrociously un-intuitive, leaping all over the place like mad, the 360 was so straight forward and neat? literally on verge of getting rid of this and just playing
on PC.

This is quite possibly the worst gaming experience ever. A useless console and an unplayable game......

 

Fallout 4 is not the fast paced game that the shooter games are. It does take some time to get out of the vault. Just be sure to explore the whole vault as you will find some useful things during the exploration. I can't offer a lot of help since I just
started playing it last night but to be honest I was ready for something a little slower paced.

Yes, the console interface is different since the upgrade to the Windows 10 interface but once you get used to it it is not bad.

 

the console is not useless! just learn how to navigate it for god sake.

 

The Vault Tec S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Videos SHOULD end at the same time as the download to play your game. Surely you have figured this out by now since you posted this thread this morning. Bethesda planned it this way so you would have something to occupy your
time while the download is completing.

 

^^ Guys, I think he is actually asking how he boots the game from the Xbox One's interface.

Put in the disc, you should see a GIANT Fallout 4 picture under the "Home" section, click "A", wait for the game to install, then the game should start.

 

What kind of hat? I'm thinking something hipster like a trilby hat.

Sorry chaps but all I get is the endless video and no way to actually start the game. Nothing, zip.

No matter how often I put the disc in or out, it just plays vault tec videos, I have been playing fallout since the first game so am very familiar with it, but this is just ridiculous, also, someone mention downloading - its a hard copy I am trying to use,
not a digital edition.

I have digital copies of some games that play fine, its just Fallout I have a problem with, perhaps the disc is faulty, but it look perfect, no damage at all and the video plays good too.

I have a lot of gamerscore from the previous games, but this is driving me nuts. Is there something I should be doing to actually get the game to play? Nothing on screen to suggests a download, an install - nothing?

Just endless, irritating vault tec videos - the Bethesda website is beyond useless as well.

And don't get me started on the new OS - is it designed to be as clunky as humanly possible?????

 

A friend of mine had a similar problem with G.T.A. 5 (disc); exchanged it and no problems.

If you go to "My Games And Apps", then select "Games", then finally highlight Fallout 4; does it have a progress bar at the bottom? Maybe something like 33% or a partial green bar that with the words "Playable"? Or no bar and just the Fallout 4 tile? Starting
the game should be as simple as pressing the "A" button if it's ready.

This may sound stupid but you have installed the game right? Also have you tried hitting A or Y or X while the video is going? If so I would uninstall the game, reinstall and see what happens then.

 

Now, when I put the disc in, I am asked ''do you own this game'' before being directed to the Xbox store to BUY IT! This is really the worst gaming experience I have ever had, not only can I not play the game, Microsoft as asking me to buy a game I have
already bought.

Thanks for the replies chaps but I guess its time to pack up the Xbox one and try to get a refund, playing a game shouldn't take over 24 and then ask you to buy something you already bought, I have signed into my friends Xbox one and it works perfectly,
with the disc so it isn't that.

Sigh.....waste of time.

 

It's the drive...or more specifically the way you're loading the disc. Mine does that if I "grip" the disc for a nano second too long when it tries to feed. Lol. Would much prefer a sliding tray.

Every gaming system has its quibbles. If the X Box One is not for you...it's not for you! Lol. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Well it could be it did not install right. Try deleting it and reinstall.
