How do I sign into my Microsoft account on original xbox in 2018?

I am planning on buying a used original xbox this month to play some old games. But I may not want to if I can't sign into my microsoft account since the servers are shut down. So is the recover gamer tag option still avaliable or do I just play on a new
account?

I just got a new laptop and am trying to connect to Xbox live with it. When I sign into my Microsoft account on the xbox app it signs me into the wrong xbox live account. I want to sign into the my xbox live account I actually use on my console. How do I
do this on my laptop?

 

Recover gamertag

I am trying to sign into my Xbox live account using my original gamertag but I no longer have the original email account associated with my Xbox live account. How do I recover my live account and gamertag?

 

The servers for the original Xbox were shut down years ago. It's no longer possible to connect to Live on it at all so you can't use your gamertag.

I know its kind of a canned rehearsed type of answer, but with backward compatibility recently including original XB games, perhaps you can start there, and find a game the is BC that you can enjoy.
