  1. how do I separate my Microsoft account from a family group

I need to know how to do this because someone, I don't know who, has put a parent lock on my account and I can't access online features like Minecraft realms from friends and family. I already asked my family members if they could check and fix the issue but none of them have control of my account either, so someone else does.

    :)

how do I separate my Microsoft account from a family group

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

If you’re already an adult you will be able to remove yourself from the family group by signing in to https://account.microsoft.com/family. However, if you’re still a minor you really need to locate the organizer account where your account is linked to.

I am the only one in my family group, and I am not the organizer. How can I change my safety settings?

My name is Fernando I'm an independent consultant, I'm happy to help

If you are of legal age (eg 18 in the US), you can remove yourself from the family group using a Windows device.
In the console, any other organizer in the family group can remove it. To do this, ask him to follow the steps in the previous section.
Note If you are the only organizer in a family group that includes child accounts, first remove the member from the family group. After removing them, add them to another family group so they can continue to use Xbox services.
    To remove yourself online:
Sign in to your family Microsoft account.
    Microsoft account
Under your name, select Leave Family.

Hope I helped and see you soon

Account split after signing in on Xbox One S to grant child in Family Group permissions, how do I get him back onto the original Family Group?

    How we’ve resolved this problem:

Determining which account is the split account and which one contains your important data; here are the signs to look for to know the account you’re looking at is your Primary Microsoft account:

    1. When you navigate to “My Account”, if you had more than 2 Aliases the Primary account will show all of the remaining aliases. The split account will not show any aliases.
    2. If you had more than one child account or family organizer in your family group, the remaining family group members will remain on the primary Microsoft account family group. The alias will only contain that alias account as the family organizer and the child account as family members.
    3. The primary Microsoft account will display ‘Family Organizer since (year you first used Family Safety)’. The split Microsoft account will show ‘Family Organizer since (current year)’.
    4. The primary Microsoft account will display information Microsoft has obtained from you over the years such as locations, browsing history, etc. The Split account will show no available data.

It’s worth noting, the Split account does copy your Name and date of birth from the primary account when the account splits.

Moving the child account back to the primary Family Group (child will not lose their data):

    What you’ll need:

    • The Outlook app
    • 2 separate browsers (ex: Edge/Firefox)

When we got an email to #2 Alias saying Child was added to their family group, we also got an email asking to give child parental consent.

    1. Follow the link in that email and give parental consent. If you didn’t receive this email, you can proceed to step 2.
    2. Open 2 separate browsers. It cannot be two windows/tabs of the same browser (ex: Chrome/Chrome), it has to be three separate browsers (ex: Chrome/Edge/Firefox, etc). This is necessary because Microsoft accounts do not seamlessly switch, even if you log into separate accounts it may still be showing you the previous account.
    3. Log into your Primary Microsoft account in your system’s default browser (ex: Edge) and log into the split Alias account on the second browser (ex: Chrome).
    4. In the split Alias account, navigate to family safety. Where you’re able to see the family members, navigate to the child account dialog and hit the menu icon. Select “manage consent” then “revoke consent”.
    5. After consent is successfully revoked and the child is removed from the family group, go to the Outlook app and log into the child’s account (It is absolutely necessary that it’s the Outlook app and not the Outlook website on a browser). After logging in, the account will prompt you to ask an adult for parental consent. Click on the link to give consent and have it open into your default browser. Verify that you’re logged into the correct adult account and give consent to the child.

    Deleting the Split Account:

Proceed with this step only AFTER getting the child account transferred, or you’ll have to go through the recovery process to regain access to the split account to remove the child from its family group OR wait 30-60 days for Microsoft to delete the account before your able to add the child back to your primary family group.

    1. Log into the Split account.
    2. Navigate to your profile icon in the top right corner and select it.
    3. Select ‘My profile’ from the menu..
    4. At the bottom of the ‘Account info’ dialog, select ‘Close account’.
    5. Follow the steps to close the account.

Any way to leave a family without parental consent?

Hi, Chris my name is Jhon, and will be a pleasure help you

If you're over the age of majority (for example, 18 in the U.S.), you can remove yourself from your family group by using a Windows device.

On the console, any other organizer in the family group can remove you. To do so, have them follow the steps in the preceding section.

Note If you're the only organizer in a family group that includes child accounts, first remove the member from the family group. After you’ve removed them, add them to another family group so that they can continue using Xbox services.

    To remove yourself online:
Sign in to your family Microsoft account.

    Microsoft account

Under your name, select Leave family.

Can you leave an Xbox family :

Sign in with the appropriate account on the console.
Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Family settings > Manage family members.

Select the account that you want to remove from the family group.

Move son to his own account

Thank you all for your replies.

I do not play Xbox One, so I was not sure how the account structure works. It turns out he did have his own account, but when logging into my Microsoft account from my PC, his email / account showed up within mine. In addition, every purchase he made was
going onto my credit card (with my approval at the time).

When we went to the Xbox and he removed himself from the family group, he is now able to use his own credit card on his account and keep it separate from my Microsoft account.

Sorry I wrote my question poorly, as the above is all I was trying to accomplish.
