    Hi orlagh, I'm Kim, an Independent Advisor and I’m happy to help you today.

    The Music on the drive will still remain and is available to the Xbox without formatting it. I am afraid you can't copy the music over from USB media. The only way to copy songs to the Xbox is to have a real CD of those songs inserted into the system and rip them from there. Burned CD's do not tend to work though some will players says they do. Some says they're able to copy music files from USB to 360 Hard drive when it was new from the box right up until you installed the first Live Update.

    What about music that I have uploaded from CD's to my 360 hard drive? I don't have any purchases from Xbox music but I do have about 20 gigs of music that I uploaded myself to the 360 hard drive. Does anyone know how to (if it is possible) to transfer this
    data to the XB1? I've searched everywhere and can not find an answer to this.

    Well, you can't transfer from gamertag to gamertag, if thats what you want to do.

    A easy way to transfer files for any game is to transfer the data from the hard drive on Xbox 360 A to the cloud, as your cloud saves are just stored on the internet. Then, on Xbox 360 B you simply retrieve your gamertag and then transfer the data from you
    cloud to Xbox 360 B's hard drive. Then play!
