How do I retrieve deleted local save files?

I play Skyrim AE on Xbox one and I ran into an issue where it wouldn’t let me save anymore games, I got the message in the screenshot below. It told me to delete my local save games but implied that all would be well because they would be synced with the cloud! I did as instructed but it has set me back to a very old save and I have lost months of progress! Is there anything I can do to retrieve them? I’m gutted!

There is a problem with your saved games

To play, you will need to delete and sync them again. To do this go to settings > system > storage> then select clear local saved games. They will be synced the next time you play the game.
