How do I report someone that I believe is a predator?

Thanks for coming to the forums for this issue. I would have to recommend all of the steps that have been previously recommended by our wonderful Ambassadors. No one wishes this kind of thing to happen to their loved ones and the first step that should be
taken, if you believe this individual to be harmful, is the one recommended by Smwutches regarding reporting this person to the
Enforcement website.

Sadly, we here on the forums do not have the tools that the Enforcement team does and they would be the best at helping in this situation. The information provided by our other Ambassadors (blocking the individual, reporting to law enforcement, etc.) is
also a good crucial step to take in order to keep your family, as well as others, safe from this potentially harmful individual.

I hope that this information helps out and wish you the best in dealing with this difficult situation.

You can find instructions on how to report another user here. The enforcement team does not use the forums and calling out other gamers is not allowed
on the forums.

If you believe that this person is actually a predator, report that person to the police with the information and usernames you have from the various services.

Telling people to "hurt" themselves by talking them into drinking or whatever the word filter censored in your original post is a violation of the Xbox Live Code of Conduct. So please report that message to the Xbox Live Enforcement Team via the console's
reporting feature.

Bring up the offending message(s) and use the report feature.

However when that person is using different services like messaging through "[Mod Removed]", Xbox can't do anything about it, which is why you need to report that to the actual police.

While you can block the person on Xbox Live, since your son is an adult, he can un-block the person again. Also you can't restrict his account to only talk to people from his friend list, as he could set the online and privacy settings to allow anyone again.

So your only real option, if you think the person is a predator taking advantage of your son by scamming money or virtual currency from him, report this person to the actual police, since you say the conversations are not limited to Xbox Live.

You can not only report them but block them via the console. Once blocked they will not be able to message your sons account or try to invite him into a party.

Block another player

Blocking another player prevents you from receiving that player’s messages, game invites, and party invites. It also prevents the player from seeing your online activity and removes them from your friends list, if they were on it.

1. Press the Xbox button
   on your controller to open the guide.
2. Select People, and then select the gamertag of the player you want to block.
   Note If the player is not on your friends list, select
   Recent players or Find someone and enter the player’s gamertag to search.
   
3. From the player's profile, select Report or Block, and then select
   Block.

To unblock a player, follow the same steps to get to the player’s profile, and then select
Unblock.

Block another player's messages

You can also block a player after receiving an offensive or inappropriate message.

1. Press the Xbox button
   on your controller to open the guide, and then go to Communication > Conversations.
2. Select the message from the player you want to block.
3. 3Select More > View profile > Report or block > Block.

It's only possible to file a complaint via the console.
