    How do I remove the old Minecraft Java launcher?


    It's going to be confusing having the old and new (app) ones simultaneously but the old one doesn't show in the add and remove programs/apps (why are these 2 interfaces for this?) so the solution on the Minecraft help section doesn't help.

    Not sure if this question is miscategorised, can't find the right one.

    If you look for the launcher on the Windows bar do both launchers appear or just one? If only one appears, that's correct and you have the most up-to-date launcher.

    If two appear, right-click on the icon and click on uninstall.

    Remove the game and launcher, from Mojang website download launcher and install. In the launcher login with your Microsoft account, after that you will be able to download Minecraft and Java Edition through the launcher.
