    How do I reinstall Microsoft Store apps with its app data on an external drive?


    For context, I had 'Injustice 2' on my laptop and I transferred it to an external drive before resetting my laptop just to clean it. When I tried to have it reinstalled by having it installed on my external drive, it just wanted to download about 60 GB of
    the same data again, but I don't want to because I don't have "unlimited" data now. So is it even possible to have my laptop sort of "detect" that I do have Injustice 2 so I can finally just transfer its data back to my laptop?

    Additional Info: I specifically had the Legendary Edition, so the Standard Edition would show up first before it downloads the DLCs.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately the Windows Store game downloads (both Game Pass and purchases) work differently to other PC download services. The games are encrypted and will only work on one PC. Reinstalling Windows from scratch will invalidate the encryption key, even
    if the PC it was originally installed remains technically the same.

    I'm afraid re-downloading the game again is the only option you have. No other way around it.

    Forza Horizon 5 is not able to download to an external drive.

    All of my Microsoft and Xbox games are downloaded on my external drive including the previous Horizon, which is Forza Horizon 4. I changed where new apps are stored when downloaded from the Microsoft store to my external drive but it still wont download Forza Horizon 5 to my external drive. On the Xbox app it wont show my external drive as an option to download to. I am able to download any game from the Microsoft store and Xbox app to my external drive except Forza Horizon 5.

    Unfortunately, the Microsoft Edge App is not present in my consoles' internal or external hard drives & the app doesn't exist in the Microsoft Store.

    I'm quite confused on how to proceed.

    That's strange. I'll see if I can find some issues of this happening with other Windows Store apps and get back to you on what I can find.

    I am curious if you have another drive? Or even an external drive? I am curious if you set it to install on a different drive if you see the same issues? This might help identify if it's a Windows, Windows Store, or possibly Profile issue.

    Windows Central has a pretty good guide on how to install apps to a different drive in Windows here.
    I have another drive, but It's not external.

    I'll try to reinstall one the games I mentioned in this other drive
