How do I register an Xbox custom controller?

I don't own an xbox one, but I have an elite controller which I use on my PC. How then do I register the controller?

Okay, how do I go about doing that? This is a custom built controller through the Xbox design labs.

You can customize the adaptive controller through the Xbox Accessories App with supported accessories.

There are also links to groups on the page that have setup suggestions for the controller as well.

but mine isn't custom and the USB port for the headset adapter is lodged in the controller so my adapter can't reach it. How do I fix this?

In that case go to https://devicesupport.microsoft.com and select your console (if not already done so, register your console first). Then say you have trouble with an accessory for that console, choose the
controller model, and provide the controller's serial number that you find in the battery compartment.

Follow the steps through to get your controller sent in for repair.
