    How do I refund a Game I gifted to a friend that is region locked?


    I gifted my friend a game only for us to realize that it was region locked and he can't claim it. I tried to refund it from my side but it doesn't show up and he can't find it on his side either.

    Let me help you with your concern today. Please note that this is a public forum, I apologize for a delay in response.

    I’m afraid givers and recipients must be in the same country or region for the gift to work. If you don’t have the option to refund it in xbox.com/refund, you will have to reach out to support. https://support.xbox.com/contact-us

    Please note that you must request a refund for an unredeemed code within 14 days of making the purchase.

    code not redeemable because of region, seller is literally xbox microsoft store

    There are a couple of reasons gifts are region locked, taxation laws in different Countries and game licence within each Country. It does state at point of purchase that gifts are region locked. Your friend will have to attempt a refund. Sorry.

    If your friend bought the game as a gift through the Xbox Store he can request a refund.

    Seeing as the gifting of games etc is region locked you wont be able to play the game that was gifted if you are in a different region as the purchaser/gifter.

    Gifting is region locked. Your friend can either request a refund or give it to someone else that is in his region.
