    How do i reduce ping return to xbox live networking on win 10


    Hi Guys

    this is an issue i have been liaising with Xbox, Windows, PC manufacturer and ISP about for a while.

    up until about 7 weeks ago i never had an issue with this.

    the norm is 70-80ms to xbox live via console, but pc is smashing 220+ms which is why i am thinking why i keep getting disconnected from certain games on pc.

    i ran a trace and found (see Attached)

    any suggestions

    Windows 10 gaming Network says that I have 42 ping, but the xbox app says that I have over 400 ping

    These will be two different servers you will be trying to get a timing on. And they wont be the ping that you will be getting when you play, as a ping will be the time and hops it takes to contact a server.

    The best ting to do is to check the PING if its available from inside a game on the Xbox to get an idea how good the latency is on that game, as the test server for the Xbox isnt going to be the game server you connect to.

    Basically the test server is just to see if your internet is working. As to using a campus network, they could have reduce the speed for specific ports that are used for gaming.

    and if you're getting ping from the Xbox One network details, they would be incorrect, i have a MS data center about 10 miles from my house that hosts some Xbox Live servers and my network details show my ping as 70-90ms, but my ping to Titanfall is normally
    about 25-29ms.

    honestly, i doubt many multiplatform games will use the dedicated servers.

    Ping = The time it takes for a network packet to leave your computer, go to the receiver and then return. If they are taking less time you will see quicker responses when gaming online, or just using the internet in general. Ping of 5-10 is very good, and
    seems stable if the range is that small.

    It's just a precautionary measure to reduce data traffic on Xbox network servers. Soon everything returns to normal.

    How do I lower ping in Xbox Network Test and with local servers?

    ignore that ping, it is just a burst test to a central server in the middle of the US, always show high ping rates, it is there to just test.

    You would need to speak with your ISP about your local ping rate as it is them that route your traffic.

    You can sometimes reduce ping by setting the dns servers manually in the xbox network settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (googles dns servers)
