  1. How do I recover an account, other than wait 30 days?

Hi. My sons account had a recover mobile number attached that we no longer have. Yes, I should have changed it and yes I missed it on the 50 things that need that number changing. I have changed that number and now my son cannot access anything on his Microsoft account. XBox being the main issue.

I've tried the account recover form, it has bugs in it. It thinks he owns an XBox 360, he doesnt. I've tried the live chat, no joy. I've had a call back, useless. There seems to be no way to reset his account other than waiting for a month.

There must be a way forward. A human I can speak to who knows what they are doing. A live chat agent that has authority? Something must be possible?

I cannot believe Microsoft, a tech giant, is this backwards with account tooling.

    :)

How do I recover an account, other than wait 30 days?

Hi, I am Mariano, an independent advisor from the Microsoft-Xbox community. I am sorry you are going through this issue, let us try to fix it :)

Have you tried completing the account recovery form? If not, here's the link:
    https://account.live.com/acsr
I recommend being very detailed about what happened and providing all the information you have available.
Completing the form does not guarantee that you can get it back, but it is better to try.
This is the only way to recover your account, at least the one Microsoft offers. As I said, you have to provide all the information you know and have.
I understand you've already tried this method, but you should keep trying. Do you know the email, username, or password?
Please note that I am only an advisor and am not responsible for any inconvenience that Microsoft may cause.

Can't Swap Microsoft Accounts - multiple errors

So after speaking with support, here's all the reasons why you might be unable to swap accounts (mine was that I recovered my account onto the xbox one). Seems a little excessive, and silly if you ask me.

    - After you create an Xbox Live gamertag, you cannot change the Microsoft account that is associated with the gamertag for 30 days.

    - After you create a new Microsoft account and associate the new Microsoft account with your gamertag, you cannot change the account again for 30 days.

    - The new Microsoft account cannot have been associated with any other gamertag or billing account in the last 30 days.

    - You cannot change the Microsoft account that is associated with a profile if the profile has been recovered to a new device in the last 30 days.

    - The 30 day waiting period starts again each time you recover your gamertag to a new device.

    - Only one Microsoft account change is allowed in a 30-day period (one change per gamertag). If you recently changed your Microsoft account, you won't be able to change the Microsoft account again until 30 days have passed.

    - You must also wait 30 days after the profile was recovered from Xbox LIVE to a console before changing the Microsoft account. If 30 days have not passed after recovering the gamertag.

I can't change the email for xbox live account!?!?!?!?

Ambassadors should know that there is a 30 day waiting period for having your Xbox account on your console for 30 days minimum, and that the new e-mail should be 30 days of age or older, and lastly with the 30 days you must not attempt to recover the gamer
tag or that 30 days is reset.

    Switching Microsoft Accounts

Naw. Because If I would've recovered it, it would have gave me the same error because of the 30 day wait period. I'm not sure if using a USB counts towards the wait period.

    - "To complete the switch of gamertags between the two original Microsoft accounts, you must wait 30 days."

    From the support page.
