How do I put my gateway into bridge mode?

I need to fix an error connecting to xbox live. The console says "You can connect to xbox live, but your current network configuration may limit your ability to join a multiplayer game or hear (or be heardby) other people in your party. Let"s try to fix
it. The online suggestion states that I have a NAT problem and that I need to put it in bridge mode. I need help doing that.

Can't get Teredo IP adress

I can't join parties successfully because I can't get a teredo IP adress. The Xbox website is suggesting to me that I should put my gateway into bridge mode but I don't know how to do that.. any help?

 

Strict NAT with correct ports

So I would:-

1) Ensure you know how to put the modem back into gateway mode (in case it all goes wrong)

2) Backup the current config of the modem in gateway mode (there should be an option to do this there is on most devices)

3) Ensure you have your PPPoE username/password details

4) Put the modem into bridge mode

5) Configure the netgear for PPPoE (see my link)

6) Success (hopefully) if not take out the PPPoE settings on the netgear, put the modem back into gateway mode and restore your config and have a think about what went wrong

The best thing to do here is check your connection to the internet router, are you on a home network or campus network?

Do you have access directly to the router that your connected to the internet with, if yes, speak to your ISP, changing your router to a Bridge will more than likely break you Internet connection.

If your looking to change the NAT to open, then you would be more looking at having a DMZ setup with your router.

There are many more bits of information needed from you before you start altering your router to a bridge.
