How do I play HDR content off of a external drive locally?

Did you mean, you have the movie file (not a disc) and want to open on your console directly and use HDR?

If you do a factory reset it will wipe all local information off of the local hard drive. This will include local saves. However, it will not affect content stored on an external hard drive or game saves stored on the Cloud (saves are stored both locally
and on the Cloud automatically so you have a backup).

However, before you try a factory reset might I suggest power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down to see if that helps?

Do you know if the missing games are on internal or external storage? It sounds like the Xbox is not seeing the external drive. Try unplugging your external storage and doing a full shutdown of the Xbox. While it is off, plug in the external drive and then
turn the Xbox back on. Go to Settings > System > Storage and see if the drive is there. From there you can also view the content of both internal and external drives.

Buy an external drive from your local electronics store, Western Digital drives are great, they go up to 2 TB though as far as support is concerned. Keep in mind though, that some games and content require an internal drive and won't allow you to use an
external.
