How do I play 360 games on my Xbox series S

I recently bought 360 games for my Xbox series S but when I try to play it says that I need to sign in. When I enter all my credentials, it says that there is a problem with the credentials I am using. How do I fix this?

Also, I’m having the same issue playing my 360 games on my Series S, my Xbox Live account won’t download onto any 360 game on my Series S.

Because on my Xbox series x, it only shows 'Optimized for series x/s' but if a xbox series x version of a game is NOT 'optimized' how would i know if I'm playing a series x/s version of a game?

I have several disc games for my Xbox One, i am buying a Series S, but how will i pay them on it?

You wouldnt. Xbox Series S can only play digital games so if you want to play them on Series S you would have to repurchase them digitally.

Do you have the two-step verification enabled for your Microsoft account? Because that may have caused the issue. According to Xbox support:

"If you’ve turned on two-step verification, but you didn’t get prompted for a security code when you signed in to your Xbox 360, this is because you must first set up an app password. You’ll use this app password instead of your Microsoft account password whenever you sign in."

This is also applicable with signing in on an Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S console signing in to a backward compatible game.
