How do I move x box app to the D drive

Change Xbox app storage settings

Click on the profile icon near the top-right and select Settings from the flyout menu. Go to the General tab. Click on the drop-down menu under Change where this app installs by default. Select the desired drive from the list of options.

Thanks for the quick response. I would like to point out that it is not a usb drive but an internal ssd (WD_BLACK 1TB SN750 SE NVMe). Since this drive is 2x as large as the c drive it is where I want to store my video game data. What I would like to do is set up the x box app to automatically save and run the game from the D drive. This is a gift to my 12 yo grandson and I would like it to be as hassle free for him as possible. I don't want him to have to select the D drive everytime he installs a new game or have to select the D drive when he wants to play the game. Thanks again for the help.

Moving the apps would not work, but you can choose to download all Xbox games to drive D. To do that, you need to format the drive to NTFS and then choose to install your games on it.

- Open Windows 10 File Explorer (Windows + E), locate and right-click on the USB drive, select "Format".

- Set the NTFS as the target file system, tick "Quick Format" and click "Start" to start the formatting.

- When the process completes, click "OK" to confirm.

Afterwards try to use it again.

You can't transfer space from D drive to C drive because these drives are a separate physical storage devices. You should be able to install games directly to the D:\ drive. You can move installed games and apps between drives though.

You'll need to free up some storage from your C:\ drive soon, either by moving games and apps to your D:\ drive or uninstalling unused apps or games from the C:\ drive. If you don't free up storage you won't be able to update your Windows installation.

Move the apps to D

To do this, head to Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Click an app and click the “Move” button. You'll be prompted to select another drive, and you can then click “Move” to move the app to that drive. If you see a “Modify” button instead of a move button, you've selected a traditional desktop app.
