How do I move parent settings to child account, or create a new parent...

I just learned that Microsoft (finally) implemented time limits for Xbox usage. I would like to set this up for my child. I've created a child account he can use, and set up the restrictions I want on it. The problem is that he's been playing under my
account for years. So either I need to be able to move all his "stuff" from my account to his, or I need to create a new parent account for myself, make that the "home" account on the xbox, and make my old account the child account he can use.

The latter seems easier, can that be done? I asked Xbox support and they said "no", because I wouldn't be able to change the birthday on my old account. "Otherwise children would change their birthdays to get around restrictions." Can that be right? First
of all, I'm talking about making an adult account have a child person's birthday, not the other way around.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    :)

Child and parent account regions not matching

I got this to work with a couple of .org email accounts and a UK region.

I used the chat support on xbox.com - worked OK.

    - create parent account on live.com

    - note parent region - shown via login.live.com (and not via other login methods) and you can edit if wrong

    - create parent account on xbox.com

    - create child account on live.com

    - note child region (and fix if nec) as above

    - create child account on xbox.com

    - associate with parent - will require logging in as parent account

    - get prompted for credit card to prove parent age

    - bob's your uncle...

Change xbox birth data. Child Profile

You should be able to create a parent account and then add the child account to the family. Then the parent account can adjust the privacy settings and restrictions.

Support is correct. It's not possible to change the age of an account once it has been created and change an adult account to a child account. In order to be able to use restrictions for him, you would have to create a brand new, child account for him and
your account would be the parent account. Nothing can be transferred between accounts so he would have to start over.

Are you sure you can't change the age of an account? I just went into my account on live.com, and went under personal info. I changed my age to the age of my child. When I hit "save", it prompted me that I first had to revoke consent for my child accounts.
I didn't continue, but it appears that if I do revoke consent, then I will have successfully changed my age. Then I'd have my account with a child's age, and I could create a new account and make my old account a child of the new account...

That will change the age of your Microsoft account, not the Xbox account. The age of an Xbox account goes by what you entered when you created the account.

Xbox account? That's a different account than the account I log into live.com with? How do I access the Xbox account? I can't find anything where you can independently access the xbox account, it appears to be the same account as the Microsoft live account.

An Xbox account is basically your profile, what you use to play on Xbox or post on the forums. There's not a specific place to sign into to change information on an Xbox account, it just depends on what you're trying to change as to where to go.

Well, it seems I was able to get it to work. Here's what I did:

    * I removed all "children" from the family on my account.

    * I changed the age on my account to the age of my child.

    * I created a new MS Live account using another email address.

    * I made my original account a child under the family settings on the new account.

    * I went back to the new account, and set time limits for my child (my old account)

    * I logged into the xbox using the new account, and locked the account down.

Now my child is able to log into the xbox with my old account, has all his old settings he had when he was using the account, and time limits are enforced.

Do you see anything wrong with this? It seems I was able to accomplish what I wanted.

The only thing wrong that I can see with the whole time limits thing is that there's nothing preventing my child from creating a second account, or using a friend's account, and violating the time limits. Nor is there a way for me to set global time limits
that would also affect his friends when they come over. What I'd prefer, and what you could do on the xbox 360, would be to set hard, password protected, time limits for any usage of the device.
