  1. How do I move my 360 saves to my Xbox One without using the cloud?

I am hoping someone can help me. I have several 360 games that are on the backwards compatibility list that I want to play on my One. I want to be able to move my current saved games for these but can't find information on how to do this without using the
cloud. Using the cloud requires me to purchase an Xbox Live Gold account. I do not have, want, or need a Live Gold account as I don't play any of my games online with other players. The cost of the account out weights any benefits it holds for me. Please provide
me with an alternative method of moving my saved games so that I can enjoy them on my Xbox One. Thank you.

    :)

Ok, I confirmed my Morrowind runs on the Xbox 360. Now how do I move my Morrowind save file from the original Xbox to the Xbox 360?

Hi, your only option is to use the cloud. There is no other way to transfer your saves to the Xbox One.

  5. There has to be some other way then just the cloud, otherwise Xbox is just extorting money from players to use their own saves on a function that is supposed to be free.

  7. I have read all of the Xbox site information that I can find including the page you just posted. I would like for Xbox to have their people tell me how to do this. If I can connect an external drive to the thing to listen to music or other items I should
be able to move files from one system to the other. However because the system does not allow for the proper management of save files as before, I am unable to do this. That is another issue I have all together.

As I said I don't have, want or need a Gold account. They cost too much for too little functionality. On top of that the cloud is slow and unreliable. The sheer number of complaints I have seen in the forums about being unable to sync to the cloud, being
unable to play offline due to service issues because it can't connect, the number of save files being corrupted and lost when saving or loading a game, it is not worth the money spent. Backwards compatibility is supposed to be free to use on the system but
if you can't move your save files, a basic needed function, without paying for the cloud then it's not really free.

If they can't give us a way to move saves for our backward compatible games without the cloud then they need to make the cloud available to all players free of charge. Really though it would just be smarter to give us the ability to move them via an external
media device like we used to so people can back up their saves for when the cloud corrupts them.

Sorry you're upset. The best we can offer is to post a request for all users to have access to the cloud on the 360 via the feedback forums.

  9. That site does not work well at all. I voted up a suggestion that is supposed to already be listed and shows it has over 550+ votes on it but if you try to locate it via "top ideas" which are supposed to be the ones with the highest votes it is not listed.
It also does not come up when you pull up the category it is listed under or with a direct search. It addresses the issue of not being able to manage our files and save them to external devices like we used to. Bellow is the link to the idea I voted on, you
cant find it listed on the user voice site.

No they do not. These are user forums only and while some have the Ambassador laurel wreath, they aren't employees. The rest of us who respond are just fellow Xbox One owners and users. You would be better off dealing with Support on Twitter for actual Support
issues, though they will tell you the same thing you are being told here, It can't be done.

To get into more detail, as you have been told you need a Gold account to do what you wish to do. There isn't any way around it as the physical formatting of the 2 systems hard drives are different.

Xbox 360 uses Fat32 and USB 2.0 which limits the drive to 2GB in size with a 4Kb sector size on the device. Any larger sector size and the drive won't work and any larger capacity will be ignored when the system formats the drive..

Xbox One uses NTFS and USB 3.0 and allows for 2 drives for a total of 16TB.

You can't just connect a drive to one console and transfer data to it and connect it to the other and complete the transfer. Hooking an external to either console will result in the drive being formatted for that console and all data would be lost. I don't
think we will ever see a way to physically move files from the older system to the newer except via the cloud, though MS may at some point make the cloud available to all.

We can all search the forums and find issues with the system and think that there is a serious problem, but the forums are a snapshot of people's worst experiences and in fact most of what you see are complaints since who comes to the forum and says "Thanks
for the great experience". Taking the reports on the forum as the experience of everyone is misleading at best, as most have never had issues with any of the things you mentioned. There are literally millions who have not had the issues that hundreds or thousands
    have.

Xbox Gold can be found for less than $40 for a whole year. You could also buy a one month or 3 month card and obtain Gold that way and use it to access the cloud.

  12. You do know you have most of you computer information incorrect, right? A Fat32 system can, from start up, mount and format a 32GB hard drive. Larger drives may have to be partitioned down but not normally. My 360 for example came with a 60GB hard drive,
now it may have been partitioned into 32GB sections but that is hard to tell with the interface they provide you with. Perhaps you are thinking about the maximum file size you can have on a Fat32 which is still 4GB.

Windows did and I believe still offers a way to convert a Fat32 USB drive to NTFS, that keeps the existing files on the drive intact for transferring files to an NTFS system.

You can still use a USB2 rated drive in a USB3 rated port. USB3 is backwards compatible like that.

There is no reason that these files should not be able to be moved via USB. The only thing preventing it is the Xbox user interface which no longer provides a way to manually view, access and manage saved files.

How do I move my 360 saves to my Xbox One without using the cloud?

The mistake I typed is that the max drive size supported on the 360 is 2TB not GB. Sorry about that.

The console is not a Windows PC so it doesn't really matter what Windows can do. I know the Xbox One runs a subset of Win 10 but manipulating files via PC has never been allowed and if caught becomes an instant ban for the console.

Of course there is a reason they can't be moved by USB or any other physical means, Microsoft won't allow it, as providing access to the file structure and file system only leads to abuse as it did on the 360. In this generation it is blocked as is manipulating
save game files to unlock achievements.

  14. See that in and of it's self is a problem. Punishing all users due to the actions of a few. Most people who used USB to move or manage files were not doing so to manipulate the save files, which requires more then just the ability to see, copy, save or move
a file. You would need the software, hack programs, and language knowledge to be able to do that. Removing the ability to move a file via USB also does not remove the ability of someone to hack a game or game save. People are already proving that. Also some
game companies like Bethesda are starting to embrace their game's modding communities as such activity keeps the game fresh and relevant for players between game and add-on releases.

The whole 360 is Fat32 and One is NTFS is something that would only effect moving files from the One to the 360 not the other way around. NTFS systems can read and write, to/from a Fat32 drive without issue. In fact most USB drives, thumb or full size externals,
come preformatted as Fat32 and have to be reformatted to NTFS if you want to save program files to them.

What Microsoft should have done is create a better way to safeguard the system from granting achievements when a modded game is in use, seeing as they have a hangup about achievements. When mods are in use Bethesda's system shuts down achievement rewards.
Truth be told the whole gamerscore/achivement system is nothing more then a need for bragging rights. It serves no other purpose, so being overly protective of achievements and the related gamerscore is pointless on its own. I could understand if there was
some benefit to high gamerscores or fulfilling achievements but there isn't, it's just a marketing ploy.

Many people like myself understand the importance of protecting our data and prefer to be able to back up all saved games to a store-able media device. Hard drives and systems can be finicky and everyone knows that a backup is needed for when system issues
arise. No one wants to loose a months worth of gaming time due to a hard drive failure. The cloud system is no safer then a hard drive, in fact you have a better chance of loosing a saved game with it then on a hard drive. As I stated in a prior post there
are tons of complaints from players with complaints about the cloud; having offline game saves being over written by cloud saves, issues with the cloud not syncing, files being corrupted during saving or loading to/from the cloud, being unable to sync from
one system to another for hours even when in the same house, the list goes on and on.

People should be allowed to make physical backups of their game saves, we should be able to move them from one system to another without having to wait hours, we should not have to pay for a membership for a service that we don't use, (keep in mind that
the original point of Xbox live was for online play of team based combat games), we should be able to selectively delete saved games and move save files for games we are not actively playing to external storage. Microsoft is only hurting players by not giving
them the functionality that they want on the system.
