How do I move an Xbox Live account to another email? And unlink it with my account?

My son is almost 19. If I had known this would be an issue now, I would have put the XBox account on a separate account from the beginning. It just seemed logical that it would be transferable to his own account when he matured, but apparently that's not
the case. I wish they would have made that clear from the beginning.

That has to be the dumbest oversight ever. Did nobody at Microsoft consider that children grow up?

It is true you cannot transfer between account however if you are willing to give him the gamertag he has been playing on all this time then you may be able to do this.

I am on the same boat and fully agree with you. Everywhere you go, people respond as they were defending Microsoft's decision, as if 20 years ago there were kids accounts! And even if they existed, who the hell think of that when setting up an Xbox for your
kid on Christmas day??? Let's just all agree it's ridiculous and there should be a way to request it to be done, based on the account history. Especially, since you're paying Xbox Live subscription on top of it, and your son's account is part of your Microsoft
Family setup!

you could have made a seperate (full) child account and link it with yours to have full parental controls, been like this for years.

my kids have had their own microsoft accounts since they were 4, when you create an account for a child you have to link to an adult account because of the age. then when they become an adult the account changes to an adult account as this has now happened
to my eldest daughters last year when she turned 18.
