How do I merge my Minecraft accounts

A while ago, I first made an account with my old Gamertag for Xboxlive. I played mobile Minecraft with this account for several years. Then I switched over to Java Minecraft on my computer, at some point I changed my Gamertag to my current one, all was fine until Mojang decided to merge with Microsoft.

Both of my accounts were under the same email and password, (with different Gamertags) and when I merged over to Microsoft it used my current Gamertag account. But then suddenly I was logged out. Now when I try to re-enter my account, it logs me into my Xbox account on the computer, and there is no sign of purchase to the Java version of Minecraft. However, there is a little black bar that tells me "If I want to play Full Java version of Minecraft switch over to (Current Gamertag) account".

I've tried to change perhaps the password or Username attached to my current account and my Xbox account but each time it defers me to Microsoft. I can still log into my account on Mojang just fine, so I know my Current Gamertag account still exists. It just won't log in on the launcher, this glitch has happened to me before and somehow fixed itself for a bit? But this is the second time it's happened and now I am concerned I could accidently lose my current account forever.

I've thought about simply deleting my Xbox account, but I am unsure if that would even fix anything. Is it even a possibly for someone to change the password from Microsoft?

Thanks for the details. I appreciate it. To answer your question, it is possible for someone to take over your account depending on the circumstances. Someone might have had access to your account security information like phone number or alternate email address linked with your account that was used to get into your account.

To confirm if you still have access to your current account where your Minecraft game is currently linked to, try to sign it in via https://account.microsoft.com website and visit https://account.xbox.com/Profile to check if it shows your current gamertag.

Side note: It's not possible to have two Microsoft/Xbox accounts with only one primary email address. A primary email or alias is unique to each individual accounts.

I have tried to log in with my Microsoft account. But no matter which passwords I try or other email addresses, it simply brings me to a screen that only lists my Xbox account as linked. There is no sign of my Mojang account in Microsoft. I don't believe it's gone because I have played Java with my Mojang account on computer after I merged to Microsoft. I think the best course of action would be for someone to go in on the Microsoft side, because I have put in several hours on my end with no avail

I checked and I can still log into Mojang website with my current account using my old password. When I use the old password on the launcher I can't get in and with the changed new password I get brought back to Xbox.

(also sorry for late response, I had a surgery recovery in play.)

Yes it is the same account. Infact its the same email. my Mojang account uses the same email as my Microsoft account. This only started happening when Microsoft stated they would be merging accounts with Mojang.

I did the process of merging and now I no longer own minecraft.

Easiest is unlinking your wrong Skype account from your Microsoft account from your computer's browser. Follow the instructions here:

After unlinking you can start the linking process again and pick the right Skype account this time around:
