How do I make one 360 controller always sign into my profile over a second controller?

I have recently started using an old controller with a worn out stick as a recharge station by plugging it into the front of the 360. That way I can play with one battery pack in my good controller while a second one charges. Problem is that every time I
start the 360 it assigns the old controller as controller 1 and logs my profile into it. Is there a way to make my good controller default as controller 1 over the old one plugged into the 360?

Xbox 360 game downloaded on Xbox One X not letting me same by progress

Lego Star Wars TCS for Xbox 360 and Fable Anniversary for Xbox 360 were downloaded to my Xbox One X via Game Pass. Both will start up and play, but neither one will let me sign into my profile in order to save my progress. They ask me to sign in to my
profile by pressing the Xbox button on the controller even though I am already sign in on the Xbox One home page. When I push the button again to make sure I wasn't signed out, the games have me attempt to sign into an Xbox 360 profile and then say they are
unable to and no save data will be recorded.

How do I rectify this?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled them, but no success.

 

Do xbox 360 guest profiles still exist

those profiles because i cant find out how to get my second controller to sign in or it not as simple as in the old days.

p.s. im trying to do this for gears of war one i have 4 xbox live profiles but the ranked game need 6 to start wanted to use 2 of the xbox's with guest profiles on second controller

 

How are you turning the console on, using a controller or the button on the console?

I thought it assigned the controller you turn the console on with as number 1.

Have you tried using the rear usb ports, if using a slim?

 

I turn it on with the wireless (good) controller that I play with. You'd think it would assign controller 1 to the controller you turn it on with, but it doesn't.

I've got an old fat model 360.

 

Strange...not sure how to work around it without disconnecting the controller before turning on.

Do you know you can charge the batteries on most things with a usb socket?

Does your TV have a usb?

I have a mains plug with usb socket on it that charges mine.

 

Yeah I figured I could charge it on some other usb, but I worry about whether it might over charge if I do that. On the 360 when it's charged it shuts power off to it (when the console is off), but what happens on some other usb if it just keeps charging?

 

Most modern batteries have overcharge protection built into them, i would hope microsofts do.

I have never had a problem with overcharging mine, and i use several different brands of batteries.

Obviously if you kept them on for days at a time you could have issues, but most of the time you would only have them on charge for as long as the one you are using lasts.

 

Why don`t you buy an official quick charge kit?

That will get rid of the problem altogether and you can also charge two batteries simultaneously.

 

If a controller is already plugged in, no matter what it'll register that as #1. Unplug the old controller before turning the console on and then re-plug it back in and it'll register the new controller as the #1 controller.

I use a wired controller, so it's the first thing the console goes to when starting up, even when I use a wireless controller to turn it on.

I could but I don't want to do that. I already bought and own the "Play and Charge Kit" which is all I need since I always play alone and only use one controller to play. Likewise I could do as Owen Killer suggested and use some other usb.... However, it
would be more convenient to just use the recharge ability of the 360 itself. And it just seems like there should be some way to make the 360 preform this simple function properly.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I'm still hoping somebody can tell me how to get the controller assigned as #1. I just can't believe that there isn't a way to do it.

Yeah that's the action that I'm observing, and if there is no way change that it seems pretty dumb to me. You'd think that the controller that turns it on would be the default as it powers up before the other one does. I'm still thinking there has to be
a way to change it.
