    It can be against anyone. If you are level 1 you can be summoned to fight a level 711 and vice versa. It's not as bad as it sounds though. I find that sometimes the higher level opponents are easier because they've glitched to level up and haven't really
    learned how to play.

    .

    Pro tip: As soon as it says you are being summoned as a dark spirit, you can change the cat covenant ring to a different ring that is more useful.
